In the midst of uncertainty and socio-political oppression, "DESDE ADENTRO" follows young community leaders committed to fighting for their right to remain in Puerto Rico through sustainable community development. This feature-length documentary shows a distinctive angle that follows the slow path of recovery and the dialogue between their self-managed projects and political undertones of colonialism. Through these experiences we can grasp how new generations are key to transform a country.
Amidst socioeconomic vulnerabilities and in the face of continued government neglect, a crippling $74 Billion dollar debt, devastating natural disasters, and a global pandemic, communities and community leaders withstand these adversities to imagine, design, and build a better more sustainable future for Puerto Rico.
"DESDE ADENTRO" share the story of four community leaders whose self-sustainability, daring creativity, and unshakable solidarity counter the daunting reality of having been left in the dark. By sharing stories of self-determination and action, this film intends to inspire and activate others to do the same, not only in Puerto Rico but in places across the globe where marginalized communities are experiencing similar social and political disparities.
By raising the voices of the participants in the film and increasing awareness of the complexities of community recovery and adaptation, in the face of climate change. Through a series of screenings, workshops, and community dialogue, we hope to build greater power by catapulting bottom-up just recovery efforts in communities across Puerto Rico and beyond.
