D'Ellas creates social enterprises in Cuenca, Ecuador, where women facing poverty and violence learn a trade, earn a fair income and rebuild their lives. Each woman is trained in everything she needs to become economically independent, from empowerment and basic finances to job skills. Today we run a bakery and a cleaning service, and with your support we will open new businesses that create jobs.
In Cuenca, many single mothers and older women live in poverty, often after surviving violence. Most never finished school, have no work experience and depend on informal, unstable jobs or on a partner who controls the money. Without income of their own, they cannot leave abusive homes, feed their children or plan for the future. Traditional job programs rarely offer the emotional support, flexible schedules and hands-on practice these women need to succeed.
D'Ellas trains women in every area they need to become independent: self-esteem and women's empowerment, rights and violence prevention, basic finances and savings, customer service and a trade. They practice in real businesses we run, D'Ellas Bakery and D'Ellas Cleaning Service, and earn a fair income while they learn. Mothers also receive therapy, food support and help for their children from our other programs. With your support, we will open new social enterprises.
Every woman who earns her own income gains the freedom to leave violence, keep her children in school and plan her future. As she becomes stable, she graduates and her place goes to a new woman. Each new social enterprise we open creates more jobs, so D'Ellas grows into a network of businesses run with and for women, breaking the cycle of poverty for whole families in Cuenca.
