Carolling in our hospital
Carolling in our hospital

In February 2015 there is 25 volunteers regular volunteers in the inpatient units and in outpatients ‘department in OUSA. There are serving hot drinks and magazines every week day in ambulances and in the halls, other volunteers attend the inpatient units – they sit and talk with patients in the rooms, they lead creative workshops lessons and play games with the patients. On 17th of December 2014 there was a traditional Christmas evening for all patients in the hospital.  Volunteers were playing and singing carols, giving the homemade cookies and other small presents to all the patients and staff in every department of the hospital.  From November 2014 till February 2015 we hold 12 supervision meetings for all volunteer groups. In February we have started a planning and promotion of a spring recruitment of new volunteers which is going to start in March 2015.

We need the resources to:

 -          Enable the volunteer opportunities also to people who would not be able to accompany long-term ill and terminally ill patients but would be able to carry out other activities in the hospital (clubs, crafting, library service, distribution of magazines, etc.) – to buy materials for clubs

-          Secure the protection of volunteers and patients who are in contact with them through the involvement of a qualified supervisor - the group supervision is obligatory, currently it is held once a month (three groups of volunteers – thus three Tuesdays per month) – to pay the supervisors

-          Train new volunteers for all our activities – training is going to be held in March 14 and 16 2015.
