Annie thought moving abroad to Italy as a trailing spouse was going to be the most wonderful experience, especially for her son Brody.
Annie's husband told her moving to Italy would be a new start for them. He had been verbally abusive in the past but agreed to counseling and a new life in Italy.
Within one year the abuse of Annie's husband increased from verbal threats to physical violence. Annie secretly communicated wiyh Pathways' via email for several months before finally being able to flee back home to the USA.
Thank you for helping Annie & Brody live a life without abuse back home.
The accounts of abuse Jocelyn conveyed to Pathways' staff was horrifying. She was pregnant with her daughter Ruby and her husband was so physically abusive she feared he would kill her and Ruby before she was even born.
We needed to get Jocelyn back to the USA from Peru before Ruby was born. Over the course of one month with careful strategic planning, help from the American Embassy and a lot of moving pieces falling into place, we succesfully got Jocelyn home.
Ruby was born a few weeks later. Jocelyn and Ruby are doing great living with her parents. Jocelyn hopes her husband will get the help he needs so he can be a better father to Ruby when she gets older. Right now though, she is focusing on starting a new life with Ruby safe at home.
Without donors like you, such outcomes would not be possible. Thank you!
When Madison first contacted Pathways over the international toll free hotline she was completely distraught. She and her baby Luke were in grave danger from her abusive husband and she feared for their lives.
Our crisis team sprung into action with a safety plan to help keep them as safe as possible until we were able to work out the logistics to help Madison get Luke home to the USA.
It took weeks of planning but we were finally able to get them out of their house and onto a plane back to freedom.
Donations like yours make it possible to help victims like Madison and Luke.
Alicia called us from Bahrain late last year. Her husband had become more and more violent when Alicia was pregnant with Ogden. He didn't allow Alicia to give birth to Ogden in the USA as he had previously promised. Right after Ogden was born, Alicia's husband beat her. She was so afraid and didn't know what to do.
When Alicia asked him to go with her to get Ogden's American Certificate of Birth Abroad he refused. He threatened to kick her out of the country if she tried to get the documents without his permission. Alicia began to fear if she didn't get Ogden out soon, she may never get out.
A Pathways' case manager worked with Alicia and an Embassy official to get Ogden's documentation and passport. An escape plan was carefully executed to get Ogden and Alicia home. After a couple of failed attempts, we were successful!
Because of donors like you, Alicia can live without abuse with Ogden safe at home in the USA.
