Status as of August 2025
We are pleased to share that the construction of the SOS Children’s Village in Dakhla is nearing completion. Thanks to consistent local coordination and external support, the physical infrastructure is now 90% finalized — with interior finishing and safety checks scheduled over the coming weeks.
Infrastructure Progress
All core buildings are structurally complete
Solar panels have been successfully installed by a top-tier energy provider, ensuring full autonomy in electricity supply
Basic sanitation and plumbing systems are operational
Timeline to Launch The village is on track to open ahead of the 2025–2026 school year in September. Final furnishing and equipment installation will occur throughout August.
Remaining Needs With the buildings now standing, our focus shifts to equipping the village. We are actively fundraising for:
Educational and tech tools: Computers, tablets, printers
Household appliances: Refrigerators, washing machines, cooking equipment
Basic furnishings: Bed linens, storage units, classroom supplies
