Since our previous update, the future SOS Children’s Village in Dakhla has reached another important milestone. Construction has progressed significantly, and the Village is now entering its final preparation phase before welcoming children.
Most of the buildings are now structurally complete. Exterior finishes have been completed on the family homes and community buildings, while interior works—including painting, flooring, electrical installations and final fittings—are progressing steadily.
At the same time, some of the equipment initially identified has already been secured through complementary funding sources. This has allowed us to refine the list of the Village's remaining priorities.
Today, the main needs focus on furnishing and equipping the Village so it can become a real home for children. These include educational equipment such as printers and interactive boards, household appliances and kitchen supplies for the family homes, bed linens, storage units, classroom materials, and other essential items needed for everyday life.
The contributions received through GlobalGiving are being carefully reserved and combined as we continue fundraising to secure the remaining equipment. Although the funding target has not yet been reached, every donation brings us one step closer to opening a fully equipped Village where children can grow up in a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
We sincerely thank everyone who has supported this project. Your generosity is helping transform completed buildings into loving homes where vulnerable children will have the opportunity to heal, learn and build a brighter future.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
