The Damage from Cyclone IDAI in Zimbabwe Summary The violent Cyclone Idai has been and is now dissipating but it has left a trail of destruction and devastation. People all over the Province of Manicaland Zimbabwe have suffered heavy losses, in terms of property, livestock, homesteads including human life and are now struggling to recover and rebuild. This project aims to assist the reconstruction and rehabilitation of a village that has been devastated by the cyclone.
Many small villages have been completely devastated by the recent floods. People have lost their homes, their belongings and their whole means of livelihood. Small and farming businesses and home industries have been badly hit, with huge losses in property and investment. The people in Cyclone-affected areas need more than immediate material support and financial assistance. They need long-term comprehensive support to put their lives back together.
This project aims to focus .. Households including 10 of our cancer patients, supported by Kidzcan in terms of bus fare and supply of chemotherapy drugs. The area has been severely devastated by the floods and if long-term development plan to empower the community to serve its own needs is implemented it would bring the situation to a bearable state. The project will assist in reconstruction of e.g. clean water supply and one roomed house per household.
The project will ensure better houses for the displaced and provide development of the community where they now have solid structures. It will enhance better hygiene and prevention of disease as they will have safe water supply... It will also help to ensure a cleaner and greener community which is eco-friendly and energy self -sufficient
