Happy New Year!
Cycle for Survival 2017—our 11th season—is over 92% filled with over a month to go before the first rides kick-off. This year, we will have a record breaking number of participants riding with us. To date there are over 6,391 bikes booked across the country—in 16 cities—and fundraising is off to a great start!
In December the Cycle for Survival community—including you—came together to raise $1.5 million to fund supercomputing equipment that will unlock the power of genetic data—and bring more personalized treatments for patients.
The Need for Supercomputing Equipment
Everyone’s cancer is unique, and a patient’s genetic DNA provides key insights into what caused the specific cancer. Doctors use this knowledge to provide better, more customized treatments.
Today's newest technologies are generating vital information faster than ever before—sequencing tumors to reveal the genetic makeup of a patient’s cancer. Cycle for Survival supporters have funded some of these technologies during past December Challenges.
With your help, there is now a massive influx of data that comes with a big need: Interpreting and analyzing trillions of data points to uncover patterns impossible to find with the human eye.
100% of money raised through Cycle for Survival funds rare cancer research, so each and every dollar benefits patients. With this supercomputing equipment, researchers can find answers to questions that human analysis can’t solve. These high-powered machines have the potential to significantly accelerate the development of cancer therapies. Thanks to incredible donors—like you—Cycle for Survival has been able to continue moving the needle further for patients worldwide. And we are not done fighting!
We can’t wait to see the Trip Advisor team in action at the Boston Cycle for Survival rides the first weekend in February. Thank you for again joining us in this fight to beat rare cancers!
