Challenge

About 50% of people with cancer have a rare form of the disease. Rare cancers include brain, pancreatic, ovarian, all types of pediatric cancers, and many others. Research on many rare cancers is drastically underfunded, often leaving patients with limited or no treatment options. MSK-the world's oldest and largest private cancer center-is committed to changing that reality.

Solution

Cycle for Survival's indoor team cycling events raise critical funds for rare cancer research. 100% of every donation to Cycle for Survival is directly allocated to research at MSK within six months of the events. The donations go to pioneering research and clinical trials, and have already led to new and better treatments for cancer patients worldwide. MSK researchers collaborate with institutions around the world, and have led the way in developing new ways to diagnose and treat cancer.

Long-Term Impact

Thanks to our participants, donors, and supporters, Cycle for Survival has raised over $140 million for rare cancer research to date, and has funded 100+ clinical trials and research studies. The direct funding has drastically reduced the time it takes for treatments to reach patients-in some cases cutting the span from years to months. Doctors and researchers who have received Cycle for Survival funding credit these resources for making groundbreaking discoveries possible.
