This project will provide culinary scholarships for young people in high risk conditions, in order for them to have better job possibilities that directly impact their lives. The young people participating in this program live though various scenarios as surviving cancer, orphanage and taking care of their brothers, immigration problems, teen pregnancy. Funds raised will provide scholarships for young people to be funded to attend the Gente Ayudando Gente Cooking School.
Professional information is scarce and this impacts directly on job opportunities for the young; percentages increases even more if there has been any other risks factors to take into consideration; just as sickness, family disintegration, teen pregnancy or even migration problems. People usually decide to begin informal selling or can only apply for minimum wage jobs that dont cover their basic needs.
This project will help solve the problem by giving culinary scholarships to people living in vulnerable conditions; they will acquire techniques and knowledge that will later be put into better paying opportunities. They will become skilled workers in the Restaurant and Hotel industries, some might even begin businesses of their own
- The project will educate 80 people a year, having a direct impact on at least 240 people, their health, well-being and security will be improved - Less people working in informal sectors earning less than minimum wage - Productivity in society will be impacted - Providing scolarships will support sustainable development in the area
