When we conceived the bold idea to use recreational divers to collect essential ocean variable data and make these data available to scientists for free, we were met with a LOT of scepticism.
It has been a difficult 10 years of development!
However, through a committed small team, donations from caring individuals like you, brilliant partnerships, and sheer grit, we can answer YES to all of the above! The 2°C Wavelet Ocean Sensor has exceeded all of the outcomes we set out to achieve and delivered more!
Now, the hard work of outreach begins.
If you're passionate about seeing positive change or want to protect a particular coral reef you care about, please reach out to me. I will work with you and the local stakeholders to make sure that your donation delivers a 2°C Wavelet directly to them. Our UNESCO Ocean Decade Project (112.2) will include their data!
Jimmy Page of LED ZEPLIN said that he never set out to record a single for the radio. He wanted to break that cycle and have listeners experience the whole side of an album.
We echo that in that we never set out to create ocean tech; we want to change the way that science is collected - by including you. Join us!
Kind regards,
Neil van Niekerk
