Critter Camp's newest rescues include Petey a 30-year-old cockatiel whose owner went into a nursing home. ( Cockatiels live up to about 30 so he is truly very old!) He is doing great in our little flock with his new friends Kiddo & Sam.
Another new arrival is JoJo a little sugar glider whose cagemate died and was not eating because she was so lonely. Her owner is going off to college and thought it would be better to place her than to try to find another glider to be her friend and try to take them to school where he would not have room or time for them. She has fit right in with our colony of girls- her new friends Sugar, Cinnamon, Nutmeg & Lil Miss have accepted her too!
And finally, we took in Baritone- a tiny dwarf bunny that is 2 1/4 pounds of pure demon towards people. Poor little guy was part of a group of 40 rabbits dumped in a shelter in Michigan by a breeder, then since he was not handleable he was sent to another rescue in Wisconsin with a great track record for taming down bunnies. Unfortunately, even after months of work Little Baritone would not respond accept with deep strong bites! So here he is in Illinois in Critter Camp's free range Bunny Haven and he is ruling the roost! All of our current rabbits are human aggressive but that makes them more likely to get along with other bunnies.
Critter Camp was also recently featured on the site "Only in Illinois" It's a great article! http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/illinois/exotic-animal-sanctuary-il/
CritterCampMom had her first shot in her eardrum yesterday to try to get these horrible meniere's attacks under control. She can have up to 4 shots a year for 2 years, then the entire inner ear has to be removed if she isn't better. So here's hoping! No matter what the rescue goes on and thrives and will continue to move forward!
Now we NEED your support! Any amount helps! Please give if you can and share! Thank you!!!
