Summary

When an emergency strikes, the International Rescue Committee arrives on the scene within 72 hours to assess the need and deliver urgent aid to people fleeing war, violence, or disaster. As one of the first organizations to respond in major humanitarian emergencies, we work diligently to gain an understanding of what resources are needed, so we can save as many lives as possible. We then commit to staying as long as we are needed.

Challenge

Around the world more families have been forced to flee their homes by conflict and natural disaster than ever before on record. They're leaving behind everything they know to start over somewhere safe, often times foregoing basic health care, education, and often times, their families and loved ones.

Solution

By donating to the IRC, you could help deliver urgent medical care to injured children or ensure the safe passage of families escaping persecution. Our experience has shown that having access to pre-arranged funding is essential during the initial stages of a major emergency. Thanks to your support, the IRC can immediately intervene when a crisis arises as well as provide financial protection to vulnerable populations.

Long-Term Impact

Make a life-changing impact: your gift helps provide critical assistance to uprooted families where it's most needed. You could help newly resettled refugee families learn English as they make a fresh start in the U.S., create brighter futures through education for girls and boys living in conflict zones, or reunite children with their families separated amid the chaos of war. The IRC is deeply grateful for your compassion and support for all those we serve.
