Thanks to the support received by many donors like you, it was possible to benefit 100 girls, boys, young people and 20 tutors who can now dream of a different future. Your contribution was very important to improve and advance in food and nutrition programs, technical and art workshops, higher education and to protect and accompany them, improve their self-esteem, help them to be happy, make sense of life and overcome some of the most difficult moments suffered in school, family and community environment.

                       Thanks to your donation through GlobalGiving, we achieved:

Better nutrition and food from Monday to Saturday, consisting of breakfast and lunch to children who attended schools in the afternoon and lunch and reinforced snack to children who attended schools in the morning. This responded to the first basic need of the 120 girls, boys, youth and tutors for whom it would be very difficult with hunger to study and participate in the programs of the Foundation and in the school.

The education of the beneficiary population was strengthened as one of the means to combat poverty from its roots and school performance was reinforced, through the use of academic platforms such as IXL, CODE, KAHN ACADEMY, implemented by instructors in accordance with the learning needs and difficulties, to help children not to leave school and finish their studies in the different public schools in the area. A high percentage of attendance and permanence in the school system was achieved, as well as the approval of the academic year of 95% of the beneficiaries.

Artistic training was optimized for girls, boys, youth and tutors through music, choir, circus and theater workshops, which allowed them to discover their talents and develop new skills. Improve their confidence and personalities. The artistic training was very demanding in terms of concentration, discipline, understanding, body management and teamwork and shared their learning in public presentations for friends and donors of our Foundation. In December we presented the play “Christmas Promise” in which more than 60 girls, boys, youth and tutors participated.

In Higher Education funded by the Zuá Foundation and with the support of many donors, 13 young people finished their semester in University that were selected by them and realizing their dreams of being in the university, continue this year enrolled in a new academic semester and in return they were the instructors/tutors of 100 girls, boys and young people.

The five pre-university students in total finished their second semester and began the last one, in an intermediate preparation program between high school and university, which contributes to strengthening learning especially in math’s, critical reading, English and science.

Gracias al apoyo recibido por muchos donantes como usted, fue posible beneficiar a 100 niñas, niños, jóvenes y 20 tutores que ahora pueden soñar con un futuro diferente. Su aporte fue muy importante para mejorar y avanzar en los programas de alimentación y nutrición, talleres aprendamos, talleres artísticos y educación superior y protegerlos, acompañarlos, mejorarles su autoestima, ayudarlos a ser felices, a encontrarle sentido a la vida y a superar algunos de los momentos más difíciles de su entorno escolar, familiar y comunitario.

                Gracias a su donación única o recurrente a través de GlobalGiving logramos:

Mejor nutrición y alimentación de lunes a sábado, consistente en desayuno y almuerzo a los niños que asistieron a las escuelas en la tarde y almuerzo y refrigerio reforzado a los niños que asistieron a las escuelas por la mañana. Esto respondió a la primera necesidad básica de las 120 niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores para quienes sería muy difícil con hambre estudiar y participar en los programas de la Fundación y en la escuela.

Se fortaleció la educación de la población beneficiada como uno de los medios para combatir la pobreza desde sus raíces y se reforzó el rendimiento escolar, a través del uso de plataformas académicas como IXL, CODE, KAHN ACADEMY, implementados por los tutores de acuerdo con las necesidades y dificultades de aprendizaje, para contribuir a que los niños no abandonaran la escuela y finalizaran sus estudios en las diferentes escuelas públicas de la zona. Se alcanzó un alto porcentaje de asistencia y permanencia en el sistema escolar, así como la aprobación del año académico del 95% de los beneficiados.

Se optimizó la formación artística en las niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores a través de talleres de música, coro, circo y teatro, lo cual les permitió descubrir sus talentos, desarrollar nuevas habilidades. mejorar su confianza y sus respectivas personalidades. La formación artística fue muy exigente en términos de niveles de concentración, disciplina, comprensión, manejo del cuerpo y trabajo en equipo y compartieron sus aprendizajes en representaciones públicas para los amigos y donantes de la Fundación. En diciembre presentamos la obra de teatro “Promesa de Navidad” en la cual más de 60 niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores participaron.

En Educación Superior financiados por la Fundación Zuá y con el apoyo de muchos donantes, 13 jóvenes terminaron su semestre en las carreras que fueron seleccionadas por ellos y haciendo realidad sus sueños de estar en la universidad, continúan este año matriculados en un nuevo semestre académico y en contraprestación fueron los tutores de las 100 niñas, niños y jóvenes.

Los preuniversitarios cinco en total terminaron su segundo semestre e iniciaron el último, en un programa de preparación intermedio entre la escuela secundaria y la universidad, el cual contribuye a fortalecer los aprendizajes especialmente en matemáticas, lectura crítica, inglés y ciencias.

Hoy estamos felices por su generosidad y confianza en apoyar a las niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores de la Fundación Zuá para ayudarlos a soñar y hacer realidad sus sueños.

At the Fundación Zuá since its inception, we have promoted volunteering to help the vulnerable population and be sensitive towards the harsh reality and the social and economic inequality of people live in Colombia. Volunteers supports Zua participants, in the basic programs of the Foundation: Nutrition, Workshops of Learning, Artistic Workshops and Higher Education. 

Here are some Volunteers experiences:

“I am Ivonne, a social worker at the National University and I am linked to the Fundación Zuá as a volunteer. I have been pleasantly satisfied with the work that I have had with the children in their educational development, I believe that I have been able to contribute with my help to a social change generated since childhood. I am grateful because I have had the support of the whole team of the foundation in my professional growth ”.

“I am Yasmín I am a volunteer of the Fundación Zuá and first of all I thank God for everything that has happened to me, I love being with the children, because I love giving reinforcement in my spare time instead of being at home doing nothing” I am the mother of Mauricio who does the pre-university in the Foundation and Luis Carlos and Jonathan who studied his university career with the support of the Foundation. Today I realize that the opportunities arise and that it depends on taking advantage of them and I am happy to see my children who are progressing step by step”

As we move forward in the development of the goals proposed for this year, we thank our donors for their generosity and trust, who through the Global Giving platform have supported girls, boys, youth and tutors to realize their dreams. 

The intense work of these months has allowed us to strengthen Nutrition for 100 girls, boys, young people and 20 tutors over 6 days a week. It can be shown that personal development and social interaction have improved significantly.

In the Learning Workshops we have carried out different activities from school tasks to the use of academic platforms, with good results especially in achieving learning and improving academic performance. 80% of children will be promoted to another grade and 20% are doing recovery activities and to be promoted to the next grade soon.

In the Artistic Workshops, the main focus was creating and writing the script of a very special play called "Christmas Promise", with the participation of the girls, boys, youth and tutors in which 40 of them perform. The play is full of magic, color, light, music, circus and feelings where everyone has put their best and will be released soon on November 24. Another interesting aspect was related to the developing of the design of clothing from recyclable materials and at a minimal cost.

On the other hand, regarding Higher Education the 15 students who are currently in university, have all approved the semester and continue their university stage, making their dreams of being professionals come true and in return they are the tutors of the girls, boys and youth in the Foundation. One of the university graduated last month presents her experience.

“I am Kelly  I joined the Fundación Zuá in 2014 after graduating from school with the illusion of being able to continue training academically, because due to my socioeconomic status my opportunities to do so were very limited. In my process within the foundation I could understand that my purpose was not only to achieve my academic and professional training but to train to help others. I also learned that the Zuá Foundation, is more than a building, a class or a workshop, it is a place of dreams and dreamers, it is the encounter with the other and with ourselves, it is an opportunity to understand that despite the most adverse situations it is necessary to fight for our rights and it is possible to believe, create and transform our ways of thinking and living. With the support of The Fundación Zuá Igraduated a month ago as a Social Worker at Uniminuto.

Thank you very much to our donors who support us to develop programs with this vulnerable population in southern Bogotá, with high rates of violence, malnutrition and dysfunctional families, to help them transform their lives.  En la Fundación Zuá desde su inicio, hemos promovido el voluntariado para ayudar a la población vulnerable y ser sensibles a la dura realidad y la desigualdad social y económica de las personas que viven en Colombia. Voluntarios apoya a los beneficiarios de Zuá, en los programas básicos de la Fundación: Nutrición, Talleres de Aprendizaje, Talleres Artísticos y Educación Superior.

Aquí hay algunas experiencias de Voluntarios:

“Soy Ivonne, trabajadora social de la Universidad Nacional y estoy vinculada a la Fundación Zuá como voluntaria. Me he sentido gratamente satisfecha por la labor que he tenido con los niños y niñas en su desarrollo educativo, creo que he podido aportar con mi ayuda a un cambio social generado desde la infancia y la familia, estoy agradecida porque he contado con el apoyo de todo el equipo de la fundación en mi crecimiento profesional”.

 “Soy Yasmín,  soy voluntaria de la Fundación Zuá y ante todo doy gracias a Dios por todo lo que me ha pasado, adoro estar con los niños, porque me encanta dar refuerzo en mi tiempo libre en vez de estar en casa sin hacer nada” Soy la mamá de Mauricio que hace el preuniversitario en la Fundación y de Luis Carlos y Jonathan que estudiaron su carrera universitaria con el apoyo de la Fundación. Hoy en día me doy cuenta qué las oportunidades se presentan y que de uno depende aprovecharlas y me siento feliz ver a mis hijos que están progresando poco a poco”.

 A medida que avanzamos en el desarrollo de los objetivos propuestos para este año, agradecemos a nuestros donantes su generosidad y confianza, quienes a través de la plataforma Global Giving han apoyado a niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores para hacer realidad sus sueños.

El trabajo intenso de estos meses nos ha permitido fortalecer la Nutrición a las 100 niñas, niños, jóvenes y 20 tutores 6 días a la semana y se puede evidenciar que el desarrollo personal y la interacción social han mejorado de modo significativo.

 En los Talleres Aprendamos hemos realizado diferentes actividades desde tareas escolares hasta el uso de las plataformas académicas, con buenos resultados especialmente en el logro de aprendizajes y el mejoramiento del rendimiento académico. El 80% de los niños serán promovido a otro grado escolar y un 20% están haciendo actividades y talleres de recuperación y serán promovidos al próximo grado escolar.

En los Talleres Artísticos su esfuerzo se ha dedicado a pensar y escribir el libreto de una obra de teatro muy especial llamada “Promesa de Navidad”, con la participación de las niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores en la cual actúan 40 de ellos. La obra de teatro está llena de magia, colorido, luz, música, circo y sentimientos donde todos han dado lo mejor de sí mismos y será estrenada el próximo 24 de noviembre. Un aspecto interesante es haber desarrollado mucha creatividad para el diseño del vestuario y la utilería a partir de materiales reciclables y a un costo mínimo.

Por otro lado, con respecto al programa de Educación Superior, los 15 estudiantes que actualmente están en la universidad, todos aprobaron el semestre y continúan su etapa universitaria, haciendo realidad sus sueños de ser profesionales y, a cambio, son los tutores de las niñas, los niños y los jóvenes. en la Fundación. Una de las universidades graduadas el mes pasado presenta su experiencia.

“Soy Kelly  ingrese a la fundación Zuá en el año 2014 luego de graduarme del colegio con la ilusión de poder seguir formándome académicamente, pues debido a mi condición socioeconómica mis oportunidades para hacerlo eran, quizá no imposibles, pero si muy limitadas. En mi proceso dentro de la fundación pude comprender que mi propósito no era únicamente lograr mi formación académica y profesional sino formarme como persona, Aprendí también que la Fundación Zuá, es más que una edificación, una clase o un taller, va más allá de una idea idílica dentro de la realidad de nuestro país, es el entramado de relaciones que allí se crean, es un lugar de sueños y de soñadores, es el encuentro con el otro y con nosotros mismos, es el esfuerzo por brindar incluso hasta lo que no se tiene, es una manera de ver distinto, es una oportunidad para entender que a pesar de las situaciones más adversas es necesario luchar por lo justo y es posible creer, crear y transformar nuestras formas de pensar y de vivir.” Con el apoyo de la Fundación Zuá me gradué hace un mes en Trabajo Social en la Uniminuto.

 Muchas gracias a nuestros donantes que nos apoyan para desarrollar programas con esta población vulnerable en el sur de Bogotá, con altos índices de violencia, desnutrición y familias disfuncionales, para ayudarlos a transformar sus vidas. Thanks to our donors, today we are proud to be part of Global Giving, thanks for your generosity and confidence to support children and young people to dream and realize their dreams. One of our donors puts it this way: “It is rewarding to support the beneficiaries of Zuá with better nutrition opportunities, learning workshops, art workshops and higher education”.

We have managed to improve the Nutrition of girls, boys, young people and tutors  6 days a week for a total of 1,440 breakfasts, 2,880 lunches and 1,440 snacks every month, always in the aim of helping them to nurture their minds, their hearts, and their hopes.

In the Learning Workshops we have strengthened the permanence and academic success of girls, boys and young people in public schools, achieving greater learning and commitment to their future. The support of the tutors and the use of academic platforms in the Foundation, are focused on answering the needs and learning difficulties of each one and improve their skills mainly in mathematics with iXL and Khan Academy, in English and programming with CODE, among others. 

Heidi is twelve years old and arrives at the Foundation at 7:30 in the morning, she has breakfast, and, with the support of the tutors she performs different activities such as school assignments and learning reinforcements in reading and writing. At 11:00 am she has lunch and goes to the public school, where she does year 5. On Saturdays she participates in art workshops, especially music and theater.  As Heidi, the Foundation benefits another 99 girls, boys and young people and 20 tutors. She puts it this way: “Hello, my name is Heidi and I am part of the Zuá Foundation. I have learned a lot with the platforms and everyone helps me a lot, I live very happy, they give me breakfast and lunch, they teach me a lot and I thank the Zuá Foundation”

In the Artistic Workshops, we develop the skills and abilities of the children, through the daily realization of music workshops and individual practices. On Saturdays a group of girls, boys and young people do circus, music, theater and plastic. Others make up the sport teams and the Seed group.

In Higher Education, Paula, Doris, Tatiana, Valeria and Alex began the first term in August, for a total of 15 young people studying different careers at the university, funded by the Foundation, coming their dreams of being professionals true. They dedicate part time to support as tutors of girls and boys in the Foundation.

Gracias a nuestros donantes hoy nos sentimos orgullosos de hacer parte de Global Giving, gracias por su generosidad y confianza para apoyar a las niñas, niños y jóvenes a soñar y hacer realidad sus sueños. Uno de nuestros donantes lo expresa asi  “Si se puede apoyar a los beneficiarios de Zuá con mejores oportunidades de nutrición, talleres aprendamos, talleres artísticos y educación superior.”  

Hemos logrado mejorar la Nutrición de las niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores 6 días a la semana para un total cada mes de 1.440 desayunos, 2.880 almuerzos y 1.440 refrigerios en la tarde, siempre con el fin de ayudarles a nutrir también sus mentes, sus corazones y sus esperanzas.

En los Talleres Aprendamos hemos fortalecido la permanencia y el éxito académico de niñas, niños y jóvenes en los colegios públicos, logrando mayor aprendizaje y compromiso con su futuro. El apoyo de los tutores y el uso de las plataformas académicas en la Fundación, están orientadas a responder a las necesidades y dificultades de aprendizaje de cada uno y fortalecerlos especialmente en matemáticas con iXL y Khan Academy, en inglés y programación con CODE, entre otros.

Heidi tiene doce años llega a la Fundación a las 7:30 de la mañana, desayuna y con el apoyo de los tutores realiza diferentes actividades tales como: tareas escolares, refuerzos de aprendizaje, y fortalecimiento en lectura y escritura. A las 11:00 am almuerza y se va para el colegio oficial, donde estudia quinto grado. Los sábados participa en los talleres de arte, especialmente música y teatro.

Como Heidi, la Fundación beneficia a otros 99 niñas, niños y jóvenes y 20 tutores. Ella lo expresa así: “Hola yo me llamo Heidi y hago parte de la Fundación Zuá, he aprendido mucho con las plataformas y todos me ayudan mucho, vivo muy feliz, me dan desayuno y almuerzo, me enseñan mucho y agradezco a la Fundación Zuá”

En los Talleres Artísticos, desarrollamos las destrezas y habilidades de los niños a través de la realización diaria de talleres de música y prácticas individuales. Los sábados un grupo de niñas, niños y jóvenes hacen circo, música, teatro y plástica. Otros conforman el equipo de deporte y el grupo Semilla.

En Educación Superior, Paula, Doris, Tatiana, Valeria y Alex, ingresaron en agosto al primer semestre, para un total de 15 jóvenes estudiando diferentes carreras, en la universidad, financiados por la Fundación, haciendo realidad sus sueños de ser profesionales y en contraprestación son los tutores de las niñas, niños y jóvenes en la Fundación.
