 At the Fundación Zuá, we have believed that it is urgent to redouble efforts to care for girls, boys, and young people in a virtual and face-to-face way, for which we not only did not leave those who we attended, but we intensified and diversified the way of doing it since they are the children and their families who would suffer directly from the lack of our support and companionship.

We are developing face-to-face activities in Patio Bonito and in Bosa, the two towns in Bogotá, where girls, boys, youth, and tutors are attending daily. What we value most about this presence is the happiness of the children to be able to return to the Foundation, to see their friends and tutors.

In the 2 campuses, they have access to academic platforms on computers and internet access allows them to communicate with the teachers at their schools and develop their study guides, which is the predominant methodology in virtual schools. We help them improve their skills and abilities in reading comprehension, mathematics, and English.

In the arts, especially in music and theater, we also have the opportunity of face-to-face encounters with children, making it possible, on the one hand, for the attention of the tutors and on the other the use of musical instruments that are at the Foundation's headquarters.

For their part, the performance and commitment of the tutors has been very satisfactory, after assimilating and learning from the difficulties of the past year. Many lessons were learned and the change in attitude has been total, which is expressed in the fact that most of the children express complete satisfaction with the help of the tutors.

It is worth noting that both mothers and children now value and appreciate being part of the Foundation, which is also expressed in an attitude of greater commitment and collaboration. It is noted that the pandemic and the confinement allowed them to value the Foundation and its programs.

In the Higher Education Program, we register with great joy that the 15 students financed by the Zuá Foundation, enrolled in different universities, finished their semester, with incredibly good academic averages, excellent educational experiences, and a wealth of knowledge in their areas of specialty.

 As a result of the pandemic, we have intensified communication with mothers, whose lives have been changed by this reality and made them aware of their weaknesses, which is why many of them, who left school as girls, now see the need to study. So, the natural reaction in most of them has been, "I do not understand many issues" so, "I have to study", currently the vast majority express their desire to study.

This need of mothers led us to find answers to help them trust their abilities and give themselves a new opportunity to learn to live in a new reality, under new technologies, and prepare to undertake new ways of making a living. We have come a long way in the confidence they have in the Foundation, in its responsiveness, and in the seriousness of the programs.

That is why we have designed a program to empower moms that includes four aspects: Psychosocial training to help them in their role as mothers and household leaders. Training to help their children with the academic part. Supports so that they continue studying and can finish high school and Accompaniment to improve their entrepreneurship and work capacity.

For this, a team of volunteer professionals was formed: a social worker, 2 psychologists, and a graduate in education. They are going to direct each mother in a personalized way in her education, we are going to do it virtually, that is, each mother spends a couple of hours a day in her house to educate her.

To date, 20 mothers have joined, of which 10 are enrolled in a formal educational institution to complete their high school studies, interrupted in their childhood by early pregnancies and domestic violence.

Thanks to those who help us, without their help we could not help and bring hope to their lack of possibilities to dream and make their dreams come true.

En la Fundación Zuá  hemos creído que  es urgente redoblar esfuerzos para la atención de las niñas, niños y Jóvenes en forma virtual y presencial, por lo cual no solo no dejamos a quienes atendíamos, sino que intensificamos y diversificamos la forma de hacerlo, pues son los niños y sus familias quienes sufrirían directamente por la falta de nuestro apoyo y compañía.

Estamos desarrollando actividades presenciales en Patio Bonito y en Bosa, las dos localidades en Bogotá, donde están asistiendo diariamente  niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores.  Lo que más valoramos de esta presencialidad es la felicidad de los chicos de poder volver a la Fundación, para verse con sus amigos, y tutores.

En las 2 sedes, tienen acceso a las plataformas académicas en los computadores y el acceso a internet les permite comunicarse con sus profesores y desarrollar sus guías de estudio, que es la metodología predominante en los colegios en la virtualidad. Les ayudamos a mejorar sus destrezas y habilidades en la comprensión lectora, en matemáticas y en inglés.

En artes, especialmente en música y teatro también tenemos la oportunidad de encuentros presenciales con los niños, haciendo posible de una parte la atención de los tutores  y de otra  la utilización de instrumentos musicales que están en la sede de la Fundación.

Por su parte, el rendimiento y compromiso de los tutores ha sido muy satisfactorio, luego de asimilar y aprender de las dificultades del año pasado. Se aprendieron muchas lecciones y el cambio de actitud ha sido total, lo cual se expresa en que la mayoría de los niños manifiestan completa satisfacción con la ayuda de los tutores.

Vale resaltar que tanto mamás como niños valoran ahora y agradecen el poder hacer parte de la Fundación, lo cual se expresa también en una actitud de mayor compromiso y colaboración. Se nota que la pandemia y el encierro les permitió valorar la Fundación y sus programas.

En el Programa de Educación Superior, registramos con gran alegría, que los 15 estudiantes financiados por la Fundación Zuá, matriculados en diferentes universidades terminaron su  semestre, con muy buenos promedios académicos, excelentes experiencias educativas y un gran bagaje de conocimientos en sus áreas de especialidad

Con motivo de la pandemia hemos intensificado la comunicación con las mamás, a quienes esta realidad les ha cambiado la vida y les ha hecho conscientes de sus debilidades, por lo cual muchas de ellas, que abandonaron la escuela siendo niñas, ahora ven la necesidad de estudiar. Entonces la reacción natural en la gran mayoría de ellas ha sido, “yo no entiendo muchos temas” entonces, “me toca estudiar”, en este momento la gran mayoría manifiesta su deseo de estudiar.

Esta necesidad de las mamás nos llevó a encontrar respuesta para   ayudarles a confiar en sus capacidades y que se den una nueva oportunidad para aprender a vivir en una nueva realidad, bajo unas nuevas tecnologías y prepararse para emprender nuevas formas de ganarse la vida. Hemos avanzado mucho en la confianza que ellas tienen en la Fundación, en su capacidad de respuesta y en la seriedad de los programas.

Por ello hemos diseñado un programa para empoderar a las mamás que comprende cuatro aspectos:Formación psicosocial para ayudarles en su papel de mamás y líderes del hogar. Capacitación para que ayuden a sus hijos con la parte académica. Apoyos para que continúen estudiando y puedan terminar el bachillerato y  Acompañamiento para mejorar su emprendimiento y capacidad laboral.

Para lo anterior se conformó un equipo de profesionales voluntarias: una trabajadora social, 2 psicólogas y una licenciada en educación. Ellas van a dirigir en forma personalizada a cada mamá en su educación, lo vamos a hacer en forma virtual, esto es que cada mamá dedica en su casa un par de horas diarias a su formación. 

A la fecha se han vinculado 20 mamás, de las cuales 10 están inscritas en una institución de educación formal para que culminen sus estudios de secundaria, interrumpidos en su niñez por embarazos tempranos y violencia intrafamiliar.

In Colombia, the new academic year begins in January, for which we began activities in mid-January, and by the end of the same month, we had already enrolled 97 children, 20 mothers, 18 university students, and 12 pre-university students.

With most of this population, we continue to work virtually as we had done the previous year. However, beginning in February, we began the presence in a gradual, staggered and alternating manner, which allows fluidity in the care, under strict biosafety regulations, at the Palmitas - Patio Bonito headquarters.

So far, we are serving at the Palmitas headquarters in Patio Bonito, those children who urgently require it, because their mothers must leave them alone at home because they must go to work. We are even assisting 27 girls and boys and 6 tutors at the headquarters, in specific work activities such as support in homework, guides, school reinforcements in areas such as literacy, mathematics and English, music, and theater.

In addition, and thanks to the fact that we have, there at the headquarters, 20 computers all connected to the Internet, children can carry out their homework and connect with their schools and teachers. This is a great solution for them since they do not have a computer or internet at home.

Another activity that we are doing in-person is teaching music. 5 children take one-to-one music class, in-person and 4 continue to do so virtually. There is also a group of 12 children learning theater and they come to the venue 2 days a week to rehearse for a play.

Those who attend the headquarters are given a snack, which guarantees their good performance and concentration in the proposed activities, a nutritional reinforcement that is strictly necessary since these children are poorly nourished.

The attention of children, young people, and their tutors, in person, during these weeks, has demonstrated the importance of being able to share with other people in person, as part of personal and social growth.

A good disposition for academic work has also been evidenced, responsibility when it comes to complying with the instructions given for staying at the headquarters, in addition to the joy that comes from returning to the Foundation headquarters and meeting with colleagues.

Although it is true that virtuality will from now on be an academic work strategy, which helps to guarantee the right to education, it is also true that individual support is constantly required by girls, boys, and young.

We can affirm that the fact of having suddenly passed from one modality to the other, the academic processes have been greatly affected, for which, and in some cases, it is necessary to return to the presence as soon as possible.

Therefore, we share our joy at being able to receive at the Palmitas headquarters some of the children most in need of face-to-face care, which implies that we continue to serve the vast majority virtually.

We hope to gradually achieve a balance between face-to-face and virtuality, complementing the two options and the enormous advantages of each one, for the benefit of our children. This year we continue with the SOLIDARITY OF THE ZUÁ FOUNDATION IN HARD TIMES campaign and to date, we have delivered 26 markets to the most vulnerable families in Patio Bonito and Bosa and we plan to deliver other markets for the month of April.

In the Empowering Mamas Program, we continue to care for the 20 linked mothers, we have given them support in psychosocial aspects and we enroll them so that some of them finish their primary school and others their high school diploma.

The 18 young people enrolled this semester at the university are progressing in a virtual way, trying every day to improve their connectivity so that they can obtain the best academic performance.

En Colombia el nuevo año académico inicia en enero, por lo cual iniciamos actividades a mediados de enero y para finales del mismo mes ya habíamos matriculado 97 niños, 20 mamás, 18 universitarios y 12 pre universitarios.

Con la mayoría de esta población continuamos trabajando en forma virtual como lo habíamos hecho el año anterior. Sin embargo, comenzando febrero, iniciamos la presencialidad en forma gradual, escalonada y en alternancia, que permite la fluidez en la atención, bajo estrictas normas de bioseguridad, en la sede Palmitas Patio Bonito.

Hasta el momento estamos atendiendo en la sede de Palmitas en Patio Bonito, aquellos niños que lo requieren con urgencia, porque sus mamás deben dejarlos solos en casa, porque deben irse a trabajar. Hasta la estamos atendiendo en la sede a 27 niñas y niños y 6 tutores, en actividades específicas de trabajo como: el apoyo en la realización de tareas, guías, refuerzos escolares en áreas como lecto-escritura, matemáticas e inglés, música y teatro.

Además, y gracias a que tenemos 20 computadores todos conectados a Internet, los niños pueden realizar sus deberes escolares. Esto es para ellos una gran solución, puesto que en sus casas no cuentan ni con computador ni con internet.

Otra actividad que estamos haciendo en forma presencial es la enseñanza de la música. 5 niños toman clase individual de música, en forma presencial y 4 lo siguen haciendo en forma virtual. También hay un grupo de 12 niños aprendiendo teatro y vienen a la sede 2 días a la semana para hacer los ensayos de una obra de teatro.

A quienes asisten a la sede se les da un refrigerio, que garantice su buen desempeño y concentración en las actividades propuestas, refuerzo alimenticio que es estrictamente necesario pues estos niños están mal alimentados.

La atención de los niños, niñas, jóvenes y sus tutores, bajo presencialidad, durante estas semanas ha demostrado la importancia que tiene el poder compartir con otras personas de manera presencial como parte del crecimiento personal y social.

También se ha evidenciado una buena disposición para el trabajo académico, responsabilidad a la hora de cumplir con las indicaciones dadas para la permanencia en la sede, además de la alegría que causa volver a la sede de la Fundación y encontrarse con sus compañeros.

Si bien es cierto que la virtualidad será desde ahora una estrategia de trabajo académico, que ayuda a garantizar el derecho a la educación, también lo es el hecho de brindar un acompañamiento de manera presencial e individual y de manera constante a niñas, niños y jóvenes.

Podemos afirmar que el hecho de haber pasado en forma repentina de una modalidad a la otra, los procesos académicos se han visto muy afectados, por lo cual y en algunos casos, es necesario volver a la presencialidad lo más pronto posible.  

Por lo anterior, compartimos nuestra alegría de poder recibir en la sede de Palmitas a algunos ds niños más urgidos de la atención presencial, lo cual implica que seguimos atendiendo la inmensa mayoría en forma virtual.

Esperamos lograr paulatinamente un equilibrio entre presencialidad y virtualidad, complementando las dos opciones y las enormes ventajas de cada una, en el beneficio de nuestros niños. Este año continuamos con la campaña SOLIDARIDAD DE LA FUNDACIÓN ZUÁ EN TIEMPOS DIFÍCILES y a la fecha hemos entregado 26 mercados a las familias más vulnerable de Patio Bonito y Bosa y tenemos previstos la entrega de otros mercados para el mes de abril.

En el Programa Empoderando a Mamas continuamos la atención a las 20 mamás vinculadas, les hemos dado apoyo en aspectos psicosociales y las matriculamos para que terminen su primaria unas y su bachillerato otras.

 Los 18 jóvenes matriculados este semestre en la universidad, van avanzando de modo virtual, tratando cada día de mejorarles la conectividad y que puedan obtener los mejores rendimientos académicos.

This year the pandemic, just as it affected the entire world, affected the Zuá Foundation. However, and despite its devastating effects, today we can say that during such a catastrophe, we take this opportunity to seek new paths, improve and expand the programs and create two new ones. The pandemic hit us hard, but it did not defeat us, and we can say that we came out stronger and with all the enthusiasm to better help more vulnerable children and families.

We have continued to receive the generous help of people who have certainly been affected by the pandemic, but who have redoubled their efforts to continue helping us. Thanks to your generous support as donors through GlobalGiving and other sources of support, we were able to work intensively on several of the Foundation's programs.

SOLIDARITY OF THE ZUÁ FOUNDATION IN DIFFICULT TIMES. This was the response to the confinement of the children in their homes with skinny mothers and without food. This campaign lasted from April to December and the food security of the Foundation's most vulnerable families in Patio Bonito and Bosa was strengthened, through the delivery of 530 markets. In this campaign, the generosity of the friends of the Foundation was evidenced, who really showed their great hearts with the donations and the ability to respond promptly and effectively to new challenges that no one could foresee.

LEARNING WORKSHOPS: Support to 100 girls, boys, and young people in their learning, coordinated through the support network of the tutors, who virtually developed different learning activities, to help them with their schoolwork, in the use of the free time of the kids. In the half-year vacation, 6 contests were organized through which the participation of children was encouraged, who at the end had a creative and recreational vacation. For the December vacation, a "Cultural Trip" was organized, assigning small groups of children and tutors, a country to study it and make a presentation of the most relevant aspects from its geography, economy, and culture.

ARTS: It was the area that presented the most challenges, since teaching each of the arts from virtuality to young children is a challenge to the imagination, patience, and intelligence. However, there were children and families who responded and learned, and important progress was made. In addition to individual work with several children in musical learning, in the field of theater 5 families were selected from the most numerous of the Foundation, to whom we gave a play for them to put on stage, under the virtual accompaniment of the theater teacher. Finally, three of them succeeded, the families assembled the works, invented the costumes, mounted the set design, and recorded the video of their production, using their own homes as stages. These videos were shown on December 12, causing admiration for creativity, ingenuity, and talent.

EMPOWERING MOMS: This program began in times of pandemic and to date 20 moms have been linked. We have given them support in psychosocial aspects for the management of their pain and injuries suffered when they were girls. We enrolled them to finish high school and we gave them a computer and internet access, so they can study and help their children in their learnings.

HIGHER EDUCATION: 19 young people were enrolled in university this year, advanced two academic semesters in the year, and obtained exceptionally good scores. This is incredibly significant for our donors and for us because we can show that we are helping to dream and make dreams come true. 6 young people finished the first year of pre-university, they have one more semester left and in July 2021 they will enter university, next year another 12 young people enter pre-university.

YOUNG FUTURE OF CAUCA: This program is designed to support young people, men, and women of Cauca, a department whose population is severely hit by the violence of the most diverse origin. The first three people, with whom this program began 3 years ago, are going to enter the 4th semester of their career. The next 2 enter the 3rd semester of the Pre-university and by January 5 new students, enter the pre-university.

Dear friends, this Christmas time, when hearts are filled with joy, we only have words of gratitude because of the support you have given us for fulfilling the goals of the Zuá Foundation in the year 2020. Without your help, we would not have achieved them. Thank you for believing in the need to support girls, boys, young people. tutors and mothers head of the household.                        MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020 AND OPTIMISM AND SOLIDARITY 2021

Este año la pandemia, al igual que afectó al mundo entero, afectó a la Fundación Zuá. Sin embargo, ya pesar de sus efectos devastadores, hoy podemos decir que en medio de semejante catástrofe, aprovechamos esta ocasión para buscar nuevos caminos, mejorar y ampliar los programas y crear dos nuevos. La pandemia nos golpeó duro, pero no nos derrotó y podemos decir que salimos más fuertes y con todo el entusiasmo para ayudar mejor a mas niños y familias más vulnerables.

Hemos seguido recibiendo la ayuda generosa de personas que, con seguridad se han visto afectadas por la pandemia, pero que han redoblado sus esfuerzos para seguir ayudándonos. Gracias a la generosa ayuda de ustedes como donantes a través de GlobalGiving y de otras fuentes de apoyo, pudimos trabajar intensamente en varios de los programas de la Fundación.

SOLIDARIDAD DE LA FUNDACIÓN ZUÁ EN TIEMPOS DIFÍCILES. Esta fue la respuesta al confinamiento de los niños en sus casas con mamás desempleadas y sin alimentos. Esta campaña duró de abril a diciembre y se fortaleció la seguridad alimentaria de las familias más vulnerables de la Fundación en Patio Bonito y en Bosa, a través de la entrega de 530 mercados. En esta campaña se evidenció la generosidad de los amigos de la Fundación quienes realmente mostraron su gran corazón con las donaciones y la capacidad de respuesta pronta y eficaz que tuvimos ante nuevos retos que nadie podía prever.

TALLERES APRENDAMOS: Apoyo a 100 niñas, niños y jóvenes en sus aprendizajes, coordinado a través de la red de apoyo de los tutores, quienes de modo virtual desarrollaron diferentes actividades de aprendizaje, de ayuda en sus tareas escolares, en el aprovechamiento del tiempo libre de los niños. En el vacacional de medio año se organizaron 6 concursos mediante los cuales se incentivó la participación de los niños que al final pasaron unas vacaciones creativas y recreativas. Para el vacacional de diciembre, se organizó un “Viaje Cultural”, asignando a pequeños grupos de niños y tutores, un país para que lo estudiaran e hicieran una presentación de sus aspectos más relevantes desde su geografía, economía y cultura.

ARTES: Fue el área que presentó más retos, pues enseñar cada una de las artes desde la virtualidad a niños pequeños, resulta todo un desafío a la imaginación, a la paciencia y a la inteligencia. No obstante, hubo niños y familias que respondieron y los aprendizajes y se lograron importantes avances. Además del trabajo individual con varios niños en el aprendizaje musical, en el campo del teatro se seleccionaron 5 familias de las más numerosas de la Fundación, a las que ese les entregó una obra de teatro para que la pusieran en escena, bajo el acompañamiento virtual de la profesora de teatro. Finalmente, tres de ellas lo lograron, las familias hicieron el montaje de las obras, inventaron los trajes, montaron la escenografía y grabaron el video de su producción, usando sus mismas viviendas como escenarios. Estos videos se mostraron el 12 de diciembre, causando admiración por la creatividad, ingenio y talento.

EMPODERANDO A MAMAS; Este programa se inició en tiempos de pandemia y hasta la fecha se han vinculado 20 mamás. Les hemos dado apoyo en aspectos psicosociales para el manejo de sus dolores y heridas sufridas sobre todo en su niñez, las matriculamos para que terminen su bachillerato y les entregamos un computador y acceso a internet para que puedan estudiar y ayudar a sus niños en sus aprendizajes.

EDUCACIÓN SUPERIOR: 19 jóvenes estuvieron matriculados este año en la universidad, avanzaron dos semestres académicos en el año y obtuvieron muy buenos puntajes. Esto es muy significativo para nuestros donantes y para nosotros porque podemos evidenciar que estamos ayudando a soñar y hacer realidad los sueños. 6 jóvenes terminaron el primer año del preuniversitario, les falta un semestre más y en julio del 2021 ingresarán a la universidad, el próximo año ingresan otros 12 jóvenes al preuniversitario.

JOVEN PORVENIR DEL CAUCA: Este programa está destinado a apoyar jóvenes, hombres y mujeres del Cauca, departamento cuya población está siendo muy duramente golpeada por violencias del más diverso origen. Los 3 primeros jóvenes, con quienes se inició este programa hace 3 años, van a entrar a cursar su 4o semestre de carrera. Los 2 siguientes entran al 3er semestre del Preuniversitario y para enero ingresan 5 nuevos estudiantes al preuniversitario.

Amigos, en esta Navidad, cuando los corazones se llenan de alegría, solo tenemos palabras de agradecimiento por el apoyo que nos han dado para cumplir las metas de la Fundación Zuá 2020. Sin su ayuda no lo hubiéramos logrado. Gracias por creer en la necesidad de apoyar a las niñas, niños, jóvenes, tutores y madres cabeza de hogar. Ellos necesitan una mano amiga, generosa e incondicional, para salir adelante.

It has been very important to continue to care for girls, boys, young people, and tutors (as we call the university students who help children) in this time of the pandemic, where we have had very strict quarantines defined at national and local levels.

Thanks to your generous help as donors, we continue to work intensively on several of the Foundation's programs. To strengthen nutrition, we continue with the SOLIDARITY OF THE ZUÁ FOUNDATION IN DIFFICULT TIMES campaign, in order to collect donations from different funds to support the Foundation's most vulnerable families and those with the greatest need for food support. In addition to the 240 packets of groceries delivered between April and May of this year, 200 more packets were delivered in these months to prevent child and youth malnutrition. With the support of GlobalGiving donors, we have raised 25% of the total resources.

During the school holidays of the boys, the Zuá Foundation strengthened the creative use of their free time in a dynamic way through 5 contests on music, writing, theatre, sports, and visual arts. These contests involved the children and their families, as a space for exploration and expression aimed at allowing them to describe what´s currently happening in their environment and share it with other children. It was possible to demonstrate the great creativity that children have, their talent, and the use of graphic languages, writing, music, and sports, among others, associated with their feelings, dreams, and hopes. The juries defined the winners and awards were given in recognition of the family effort.

In addition to intensifying virtual communication with the girls and boys, we continue with a great challenge in the new EMPOWERMENT MOMS PROGRAM, in order to help them trust their abilities and create an opportunity to learn to live in a new reality and through the technology. The new program develops four basic aspects of Formation: A. The psychosocial to help them in their role as mothers and household leaders. B. Training to help their children with the academic part. C. Formal education to complete primary and secondary school and C. Entrepreneurship so that they find new ways to improve their income.

Higher Education Programme:: 19 young women and men went back again at the university to continue their studies, starting a new semester in August, fully funded by the Zuá Foundation. They, as counterparts and in their free time, while the pandemic continues, must give virtually academic support to the smaller girls and boys of the Foundation. Additionally, 6 pre-university students entered the second semester of the three that constitutes the pre-university, strengthening their academic and personal training to enter the university in one year with the financing of the Zuá Foundation too.

During these university holidays, the tutors competed with a video in which each one presented what it has meant for them to be part of the Zuá Foundation. All the videos were assessed, and the most representative and communicative works were awarded.

Once again, thank you for your donations. We are witnessing how the pandemic affects this population very severely because, given their informal employment, most of them have no income so that today's help is much more urgent.

Para la Fundación Zuá ha sido muy importante continuar la atención a las niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores en este tiempo de pandemia, donde hemos tenido cuarentenas muy estrictas definidas a nivel nacional y local

Gracias a la generosa ayuda de ustedes como donantes seguimos trabajando intensamente en varios de los programas de la Fundación.

 Para fortalecer la nutrición continuamos con la campaña SOLIDARIDAD DE LA FUNDACIÓN ZUÁ EN TIEMPOS DIFÍCILES, con el fin de recaudar donaciones de diferentes fondos para apoyar las familias más vulnerables de la Fundación y con mayor necesidad de apoyo alimentario. Adicionales a los 240 mercados entregados entre abril y mayo de este año, se entregaron en estos meses 200 mercados más para prevenir la desnutrición infantil y juvenil. Con el apoyo de los donantes de GlobalGiving hemos recaudado el 25% de los recursos totales.

En las vacaciones escolares de las niñas, niños y jóvenes de la Fundación Zuá se fortaleció el uso creativo del tiempo libre de modo dinámico a través de 5 concursos sobre música, escritura, teatro, deportes y plásticas. Estos concursos involucraron también a sus familias, como un espacio de exploración y expresión dirigido a que ellos pudieran describir lo que ocurre en estos momentos en su entorno, y compartirlo. Se pudo evidenciar la gran creatividad que tienen, el talento y el manejo de lenguaje gráfico, de escritura, de expresión musical y deportiva entre otros, asociados a sus sentimientos, sueños y esperanzas. Los jurados definieron los ganadores y se entregaron premios de reconocimiento al esfuerzo familiar.

Además de intensificar la comunicación virtual con las niñas y niños, continuamos con un gran reto en el nuevo programa EMPODERAR A LAS MAMÁS, con el fin de ayudarles a confiar en sus capacidades y crear una oportunidad para aprender a vivir en una nueva realidad y a través de la tecnología. El nuevo programa desarrolla cuatro aspectos básicos de Formación: A. El psicosocial para ayudarles en su papel de mamás y líderes del hogar. B. Capacitación para que ayuden a sus hijos con la parte académica. C. Educación formal culminar la primaria y secundaria y C. Emprendimiento para que encuentren nuevas formas de mejorar sus ingresos.

Educación Superior, se fortaleció también con la matrícula de 19 jóvenes continuando sus estudios en la universidad, e iniciando en agosto su semestre universitario. Ellos, en contraprestación y en jornada contraria a la de la universidad, deben apoyar a las niñas y niños de la Fundación de manera virtual mientras continúe la pandemia. Seis preuniversitarios ingresaron a segundo semestre de los tres que constituye el preuniversitario, fortaleciendo su formación académica y personal para ingresar en un año a la universidad con la financiación de la Fundación Zuá.

En estas vacaciones de la universidad, los tutores concursaron con un video en el que cada uno presentaban lo que ha significado para ellos ser parte de la Fundación Zuá, todos los videos fueron presentados y se seleccionaron los trabajos más representativos y comunicativos.

Nuevamente mil gracias por sus donaciones, estamos viendo cómo la pandemia afecta muy severamente a esta población, pues dada su informalidad laboral, la mayoría no tiene ingresos, y hoy se hace mucha más urgente la ayuda.

Thanks donors, your contributions have been very significant to advance in the support of girls, boys, youth and tutors in these difficult circumstances given by COVID19, which forced us to close the headquarters of Patio Bonito and Bosa to ensure the protection of their lives and comply with the quarantine imposed by the national government.

In this sence, with the concern about the lack of income of these families who live from recycling and the impossibility of earning some daily income to be able to feed their family, we designed a campaign called ZUÁ FOUNDATION SOLIDARITY IN HARD TIMES. These in order to collect donations of different funds to support the development of actions in these months of compulsory quarantine.

So, we want to share with you what your money have been helping for:

1. Food assistance by supplying food kits in Patio Bonito and Bosa. Since the beginning of the locked down we accompanied the families of the children who were left without receiving food from the Foundation's Nutrition Program. Through telephone interviews, we selected the most vulnerable families with the greatest need for food support and select the 80 families that are receiving food kit. We are working with vendors that are close to where families live, and we send them the money and the information of the programmed families.

The amount of money for each mother has been defined according to the number of people that make up the family nucleus. It reinforces their self-esteem and it strengthens their dignity. To date,240 food kits have been delivered and prevent child malnutrition. This has been achieved thanks to the support of various donors. With the support of GlobalGiving donors, we have collected 30% of the total resources.

2. Pre-university students in virtual form. Faced with lockdown the 13 young university students, with your help, continue to receive their classes virtually. There has not been any interruption.

3. University Students. All the university students, which school fee where paid with your help, continue their studies virtually, as their respective universities managed to overcome the impact produced by lockdown and continued their academic activities on-line. We are to collect funds for the payment for their second semester 2020 university fees.

Gracias donantes, sus contribuciones han sido muy significativas para avanzar en el apoyo de niñas, niños, jóvenes y tutores en estas circunstancias difíciles dadas por COVID19, que nos obligaron a cerrar las sedes de Patio Bonito y Bosa para garantizar la protección de sus vidas y cumplir con la cuarentena impuesta por el gobierno nacional.

En este sentido, con la preocupación por la falta de ingresos de estas familias que viven del reciclaje y la imposibilidad de obtener algunos ingresos diarios para poder alimentar a su familia, diseñamos una campaña llamada SOLIDARIDAD DE LA FUNDACIÓN ZUÁ EN TIEMPOS DIFÍCILES, con el fin de recaudar donaciones de diferentes fondos para apoyar el desarrollo de acciones en estos meses de cuarentena obligatoria.

Por lo tanto, queremos compartirles como su donación nos ha ayudado:

1. Asistencia alimentaria mediante el suministro de kits de alimentos en Patio Bonito y Bosa. Desde el comienzo del cierre de las sedes, acompañamos a las familias de los niños que quedaron sin recibir alimentos del Programa de Nutrición de la Fundación. A través de entrevistas telefónicas, seleccionamos a las familias más vulnerables con mayor necesidad de apoyo alimentario y definimos las 80 familias que reciben el mercado. Estamos trabajando con tiendas de barrio que están cerca de donde viven las familias, les transferimos los recursos económicos y la información de las familias más vulnerables para ser atendidas.

El valor del mercado para cada familia se ha definido de acuerdo con el número de personas que conforman su núcleo familiar. Cada mamá hace directamente su mercado y selecciona los alimentos básicos requeridos, lo cual ha servido para reforzar también su autoestima y fortalecer su dignidad. A la fecha, se han entregado 240 de mercados para prevenir la desnutrición infantil y juvenil. Esto se ha logrado gracias al apoyo de varios donantes. Con el apoyo de los donantes de GlobalGiving, hemos recaudado el 30% de los recursos totales.

2. Estudiantes preuniversitarios en forma virtual. Frente al confinamiento, los 13 jóvenes universitarios que están en el curso preuniversitario continuaron recibiendo sus clases en forma virtual, sin interrupción.

3. Estudiantes Universitarios: Todos los universitarios siguieron sus estudios en forma virtual, pues sus respectivas universidades logaron superar el impacto producido por el confinamiento y continuaron sus actividades académicas. La Fundación está recogiendo los recursos necesarios para sus matrículas en el mes de julio. 

Gracias nuevamente a todos ustedes amigos donantes, en nombre de las familias de Patio Bonito y Bosa, quienes en esta cuarentena han podido combatir el hambre y alimentar a sus hijos.
