Since our last report in June 2026, fundraising for the School Revamp initiative has remained unchanged. We have not received any additional donations during this reporting period, and our current unspent project balance of $275 remains fully reserved for the project.
While progress has been slower than we hoped, our commitment to creating safer, cleaner and more dignified learning environments for children in Lagos public schools remains unchanged.
Supporting School Safety Through Our Back-to-School Programme
On September 28, 2026, Better You Africa Initiative held its annual Back-to-School programme at Ikeja Central Primary School, Ikeja LGEA, Lagos.
The programme included educational support, interactive sessions with pupils, arts and portrait painting, games, quizzes and the distribution of school supplies.
As part of our continuing commitment to safer school environments, we also provided the school with four first-aid kits.
These were the final remaining kits from first-aid supplies purchased earlier under the School Revamp initiative and distributed progressively across different schools to extend their impact.
No additional expenditure was made from the current $275 project balance, which remains intact.
Although first-aid support represents only one aspect of our broader School Revamp vision, access to basic emergency supplies remains an important part of creating safer learning environments for children and teachers.

Rethinking Our Fundraising Approach
Our experience over the past reporting periods has reinforced an important lesson: the scale of renovation we want to deliver cannot be achieved through small, fragmented interventions alone.
Our overall fundraising target remains $50,000 and is intended to support meaningful improvements to classrooms, sanitation facilities, roofing, water and hygiene infrastructure.
Rather than spend the available balance simply to demonstrate activity, we continue to preserve it until it can be combined with sufficient funding to deliver visible and lasting improvements.
As we prepare for 2027, our priority is to broaden our fundraising efforts beyond the GlobalGiving platform by developing more targeted appeals for individual philanthropists, corporate organisations, foundations and other partners whose interests align with education and community infrastructure.
At the same time, we want giving to remain accessible at every level. Our GlobalGiving campaign already allows supporters to contribute towards tangible needs, including classroom cleaning supplies, first-aid supplies, hand-washing facilities, classroom repairs and sanitation improvements.
Every contribution has a role to play.
Looking Ahead
Over the coming months, we will focus on:
Refreshing our fundraising appeal for 2027
Approaching corporate and individual partners directly
Updating school needs assessments and renovation estimates
Maintaining engagement with prospective beneficiary schools
Mobilising renovation work once funding reaches a viable implementation threshold

Progress may be slower than we initially hoped, but responsible stewardship also means knowing when to preserve resources rather than spend them without achieving the level of impact intended.
We remain committed to doing things differently, widening our fundraising network and building the partnerships required to turn this vision into safer and more dignified classrooms for Lagos children.
