Progress Report: School Revamp – Creating Clean and Safe Classrooms

Project Title: School Revamp – Creating Clean and Safe Classrooms for Public Schools

Prepared By: Better You Africa Initiative (BYAI)

Date: February 2026

Impact Update: Stewardship and Strategic Patience

At Better You Africa Initiative, we remain deeply committed to transforming public school environments into safe, clean, and inspiring spaces for learning. Since our last report in October 2025, we received an additional $250 donation in December from a generous supporter. We are sincerely grateful for this contribution. Every dollar entrusted to us represents confidence in our mission and a shared belief that public school children in Lagos deserve better learning conditions.

At present, the total funds available specifically for this project remain significantly below our $50,000 target. After careful internal review and consultation with key stakeholders, we made a strategic decision not to deploy the newly received $250 immediately.

Why? Because the nature of this project requires meaningful, visible intervention. Minor disbursements, while helpful in the short term, would not allow us to execute the structural repairs and sanitation upgrades originally envisioned under this initiative. Rather than dilute impact, we are choosing to consolidate resources until we can implement tangible improvements that align with the scale and intention of the project.

This approach ensures:

• Responsible financial stewardship

• Stronger impact per dollar spent

• Better planning and execution quality

• Sustainable outcomes for beneficiary schools

We believe that thoughtful timing is as important as action itself.

Current School Engagement Status

Schools are currently in session. During this academic term, we continue to:

• Maintain communication with previously assessed schools

• Monitor priority needs (roofing, classroom repairs, sanitation upgrades)

• Document structural and safety gaps for phased implementation

• Strengthen coordination with school administrators

While immediate renovation work is not feasible at this funding level, our groundwork continues. We are positioning ourselves to move swiftly once adequate resources are available. We are particularly mindful that structural repairs such as roofing, plumbing, and sanitation upgrades are best executed during school vacation periods. This minimizes disruption to learning and ensures safe work conditions. If sufficient funds are raised before the next vacation cycle, we will be prepared to implement the first phase of renovation work during that window.

Financial Overview

Below is the current financial position of the project:

Category Amount (USD) Funds previously deployed (as reported October 2025) $750 Additional donation received (December 2025) $250 Current unspent balance $250 The $250 remains fully reserved for the School Revamp Project. No funds have been spent since the last report.

Strategic Outlook Our long-term vision remains unchanged:

• Renovate structurally unsafe classrooms

• Improve sanitation facilities

• Install hygiene-supporting infrastructure

• Create safer learning environments for thousands of students

We are aware that achieving the full $50,000 goal will require sustained effort. However, meaningful transformation requires patience, planning, and partnership. We are confident that with continued donor engagement and campaign visibility, we will reach a funding threshold that allows us to begin phased renovation in priority schools. Until then, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management.

Planned Next Steps

1. Continue project visibility efforts within the GlobalGiving community

2. Maintain documentation and updated assessments of partner schools

3. Prepare implementation plans for phased renovation

4. Execute first phase of structural improvements once funding reaches a viable threshold

 Closing Appreciation

To every supporter who has contributed to this initiative, thank you.

Your generosity is not measured by size, but by impact. The additional $250 received in December reinforces our belief that people care deeply about educational equity and safe learning environments.

We remain hopeful, strategic, and committed. Together, we will create classrooms where safety is standard, dignity is restored, and children can learn without barriers.

With gratitude,

Better You Africa Initiative (BYAI)
