Quick update from the SicKids team

By Professor Andrew Rowland | Chair of the Board of Trustees of SicKids

This is a very quick update from the SicKids team. Time flies and I can't believe it is three months since our last e-mail to you!

Since we last wrote to you we have entered a new financial year and we're in the process of preparing our annual report for the Charity Commission for England and Wales. As soon as that is completed and submitted we'll let you know so that you can have a look at our work over the last year.

The SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic continues and attendances to emergency departments in England, not just because of COVID-19, continue to be huge. As the country - eventually - starts to emerge from the end of the pandemic we will know more about how emergency departments will function in the future. Working with our contacts we'll then be able to make a decision about how best to support the provision of Sensory Spaces in emergency departments going forwards.

For example, our team have been wondering whether mobile equipment would be better for patients or whether it will be that a fixed Sensory Space will better suited to an emergency department from an infection control point of view. We'd love to hear from you if you have any views on whether our focus in 2021-2022 should be on mobile equipment or our traditional fixed Sensory Spaces. If you have any thoughts please do drop us an e-mail to:

Hello@sickids.co.uk

or send us a DM on Twitter:

Thanks again for your continued interest in SicKids. We'll be in touch as soon as our annual report is available.
