Parahu - “Let’s Study”
Creating a child-friendly Learning Centre in Nepal
Project Update: May 2022
Public Speaking and Social Skills
The increasing number of children at the learning center has been one of the challenges for Project Parahu. The number of facilitators at the moment is 4 and with the high student-teacher ratio, the learning outcomes for many children are low.
To address this challenge, last month we selected a group of children willing to participate in a capacity-building workshop and wanting to hone their soft skills. We had also identified Public Speaking and Social Skills as the two major skills that the selected group wanted to learn. With the capacity-building project at Parahu, our aim is to create a larger pool of facilitators willing to support the learning outcomes of the children coming to the learning center.
We are happy to share that the curriculum for Public Speaking is now complete. The 12 sessions curriculum will be implemented over the period of one year and we will then move on to Social Skills. A 2-day TOT will be held for the facilitators prior to rolling out the workshops for the children.
