Creating a child-friendly Learning Centre in Nepal
Project Update: April 2022
Learning Centre Visit
During April, we visited the children and the 4 facilitators of our learning center. The number of children coming to the learning center has increased with challenges for the facilitators to provide individualized learning. We also conducted home visits of the children this time to understand their parent's perspective on their learning.
Capacity-building Workshop
Last month we worked on developing a curriculum for the capacity building workshop for the children of higher grades. This month we met a group of 12 children who are enthusiastic to learn the skill of Communication, Public Speaking more specifically. A group of children has been identified as the first batch of our capacity-building workshop and we will be beginning with the facilitator's TOT as a way forward from here.
Stationery Drive
Every month the children of the learning center are provided with basic stationery supplies that last them for a month. The stationery distribution has motivated the children to come to the learning center every day. The number of children attending the classes has increased to 280. With the challenge of a high student-teacher ratio, we are in constant conversation with the facilitators of the learning center to manage the classroom size and cater to the learning needs of the children.
