Dear Cherished Donor,
As summer approaches, we would like to take the chance to express our wholehearted gratitude for your irreplaceable contributions. Over the past decade, Leadership Initiatives’ ultimate goal has been focused on fighting poverty by creating businesses in developing countries - a goal that would have been impossible to accomplish without your help; your efforts are the means by which we are able to make a difference.
In this letter, I would like to personally show you the priceless difference you have been making in the lives of individuals across the world. Although there are many success stories at Leadership Initiatives, however, I would like to focus one story that that has recently found its place at LI - the story of Rabiu Al-Hassan and his business.
The story begins a few months ago in a small auto body shop in Bauchi, Nigeria. Rabiu Al-Hassan had been working at the shop for three years and sought to open an auto body shop of his own. Rabiu found an opportunity after being approached by Leadership Initiatives; he worked for months on training his employees and polishing his management skills before opening up for business this year.
The auto body repair business is centered around repairing dents in cars. Rabiu and his employees work hard to ensure that every customer leaves with quality service. Their hard work and attention to details have earned them a strong reputation within their community and have build a loyal customer base, as a result.
His business employs four hard working individuals, providing them with specialized vocational training and a stable income. In doing so, Rabiu is able to keep young men away from the dangers that plague his community; many members of his community are deeply grateful for his work. Moreover, his business has also given Rabiu the capabilities to provide for his wife and six month old son as well as other members of his family.
Rabiu’s story is not an uncommon one. This summer, Leadership Initiatives will have twenty new businesses up and running.
