Create 100 Jobs in Nigeria during 2021-2022

Dear Donors,

The building project commenced on the 18th of October, 2021. We currently have 20 construction professionals working on the building site. The main focus of this week's construction plan was to complete the foundation, layout the building blueprint in bricks, and start the construction of the walls. The first part of construction to take place was the guard’s quarters. These will help ensure that we have a guard on staff to keep the building safe. The second part of the construction was the exterior walls for the fence. This will help protect the building as we continue the project. We then moved to lay the foundation and bricks for the classroom.

The building is taking shape quickly due to the number of construction professionals we have on staff. They have committed to working 10 hour days to strive and complete the project ahead of schedule. Work starts every morning by 8:00 AM and finishes around 5:00 PM.

The construction team has already used 5250 cement bricks to create the blueprint of the building plan. These bricks are the strongest ones available in the community.

You can view pictures below of the progress that has been made in the last five days.

Next week the construction team is going to continue on the walls of the building until they have been completed. It is our goal by October 30th that the walls for the entire building will be up and construction of the roof will begin once the walls have been completed.

I have also attached a few photos below that best represent the progress made.

If you would like to know more information about this project, feel free to reach out.

Wishing you a wonderful day,

Marshall

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,

To start off, thank you for your donations! These donations will continue to help enhance communities and create change in Bauchi State, Nigeria. Your support towards our student interns allows them to address major challenges in the community. Without the help of our donors, this would not have been possible. The student interns in our program have learned so much from our partners in Nigeria and have worked hard to create a better life for those in Bauchi. For our business program, each team has gone through the process of bonding with their business partner, learning about their lives, realizing the largest issues facing the business, and developing solutions to these issues. For our advocacy and public health programs, teams have gotten to know their project coordinator, learned all about the history and present status of their issue in Nigeria, and developed a campaign to raise awareness for their issue in the community.

Our students in the business, public health, and advocacy programs worked hard throughout the year to improve the lives of those in Bauchi, Nigeria. We are so proud of the student interns for how well they finished the year out. To start off, those in our business program ended the year by finishing their micro grant solution proposal and having one final call with their business partner to go over their innovative solution with them. For our Advocacy and Public Health programs, student interns finished off by drafting and finalizing a full community workshop for facilitators to implement on the ground. These community workshops will be used to inform residents of Sabuwar Kasuwa and Gudum Sayawa communities in Bauchi about several advocacy and public health issues. To officially end the year off, these students had a skype call with their project coordinator where they explained to them exactly how to give the community workshop and what information should be included in it.

As a donor to this project, we are so thankful to have your support as we attempt to create change for those in Bauchi Nigeria. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever want to help us grow our programs or learn more about ways that you can assist. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

On behalf of everyone at Leadership Initiatives, thank you for everything that you have done. We all truly appreciate your donation and support for our organization. If you would ever like to speak to our staff in Nigeria or this specific project leader, we would love to communicate with you so you can personally see the change you are creating.

Wishing you the absolute best!

Sincerely,

Leadership Initiatives

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,

First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed Leadership Initiatives and their students to carry out their mission of improving lives in Bauchi through supporting business initiatives and working to develop innovative solutions to their problems. The students in our program have been engaged in months of cultural immersion and have been building connections with our partners in Nigeria to accomplish the goal of fixing the imperative issues that each team is facing.

Our business students have been working throughout the fall semester to create and develop innovative solutions special to their business partner.  Each of these teams has written a detailed solution proposal, outlining everything that they have worked on these past few months. These developed solutions can help each business increase their profit and create a better life for themselves and their family. Our medical students  have recently completed their public health issue briefings. These briefs are the summation of the preliminary research they have done in an effort to gain a proper understanding of their public health issues and how they impact communities in Bauchi. Now that our students have completed this intensive research-based report, they are using the knowledge and skills gained to continue their work to save lives in Bauchi. Our law and advocacy students have been working throughout the fall semester to create and draft a brief specific to their issue. These briefs are the summation of the preliminary research they have done in an effort to gain a proper understanding of their advocacy issues and how they impact communities in Bauchi. They are using the knowledge and skills gained to continue their work to transform lives all around Bauchi. These projects will help raise awareness and create community programs to fight their specific advocacy issue.

As a donor to this project, your support is an amazing thing to have as we attempt to transform lives. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever want to help us grow our programs or learn more about ways that you can assist. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donors,

Your donations will empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. This will create a generation of leaders given the platform to encourage progress that starts at the local level but impacts many more. Contributions from donors support public health, advocacy, and business development initiatives and create educational campaigns within the local community.

The public health program provides individuals with critical knowledge for the prevention, treatment, and eradication of the most threatening public health issues in sub-Saharan Africa.  The advocacy program provides individuals with essential civic skills and knowledge, building their practical ability to advocate for themselves and others, and enhancing the human rights within their community. These leaders then identify developmental obstacles within their communities, design practical solutions, and create sustainable business models to overcome those obstacles.

Our students work with local NGOs and hospitals in Nigeria to assess and monitor the current public health situation, then design educational campaigns to educate individuals in the community on prevention, risk, and treatment options. Additionally, students create innovative solutions firmly grounded in principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created businesses in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses: fish farming, welding, tailoring, motorcycle repair & computer education with job placement. Finally, our students work with local NGOs and government agencies in Nigeria to build human rights education programs, then design educational campaigns to train community leaders and develop teaching materials to carry out advocacy initiatives.

As a supporter of this project, Leadership Initiatives would love to have you involved if you ever want to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate, or have new ideas on how this team could best help work on their public health issue. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments! Your hard work and support is the greatest gift we could receive as we attempt to create a better world.

Thank you once again from the bottom of everyone's heart here at Leadership Initiatives. If you would ever like to speak to our staff in Nigeria or this specific project leader, we would love to communicate with you so you can personally see the change you are creating. Wishing you, your family, and your friends the absolute best!

Sincerely,

Leadership Initiatives

Dear Treasured Donors,

Over the past decade, one of Leadership Initiatives’ ultimate goals has been to fight poverty through the creation of businesses in developing countries - a goal that would have been impossible to accomplish without your help; your efforts are the means by which we are able to make this difference.

In this letter, I would like to personally show you the priceless difference you have been making in the lives of individuals across the world. As we look towards future opportunities for job growth, it’s important to remember the past successes that donations like yours have made possible. Although there are many success stories at Leadership Initiatives, I would like to focus one story that that holds a special place at LI - the story of Sani.

Sani, the firstborn of five, was brought up with strong family values; since he was young, he took on odd jobs to support his younger siblings. When his family did not have the money to finance his education, Sani worked hard to put himself through college, where he studied computer science.

Upon completing his education, Sani found himself looking for a job; it was at this time that Leadership Initiatives identified Sani as a community leader and provided him with specialized business management training, additional skills from an LI computer trainer (although the trainer admits that Sani taught him a number of things as well), and the means for funding. Armed with a variety of resources, Sani opened a computer business center with a single goal in mind - providing cost effective computer repair and printing services that would help members of his community grow their own businesses.

After months of dedicated hard work, his computer business center, M.S Dauda, has not only earned a reputation for high quality repair but has also gained the role as a pillar of the community. Many Nigerian high school students have the opportunity of receiving low cost computer training with M.S. Dauda, allowing those, who could not otherwise afford computer training, to develop important technical skills.

As a pillar of his local community, Sani seeks to empower those who do not have access to job opportunities; he employs three hard working individuals, providing them with a stable income as well as specialized technical training that will allow them to enjoy success in the future. Sani’s unique desire to help others has allowed him to rise to prominence in his community; based on what we have seen so far, we can only expect even greater achievements to come.

Your donations make it possible to give both entrepreneurs like Sani and members of his community a steady way to make a living, showing just how crucial your role is in making our goal of creating 100 jobs in the 2020 season a reality. If you would like to learn more about our business creation programs, please visit our website at www.lichange.org. There you can find personal stories, meet members of the community, view photo galleries, or even set up a Skype call with a business owner!

Once again, we cannot thank you enough for your dedication to our cause; the help that you have given us has come a long way in helping Leadership Initiatives, and especially the business owners we work with, prosper. Wishing you, your friends, and your family the absolute best!

Sincerely,

The Leadership Initiatives Family
