In the past 3 months due to COVID Pandemic, we have to stop our regular Centre activities as lockdown declared in India. Yet we were committed to reaching out to the elderly and as we know that they will be more vulnerable during the situation. In this quarter we have distributed dry food packets comprising of Puffed rice, biscuits etc to 300 elderly women.
We have kept regular communication with the elderly during food distribution and also communicated with the family member of the elderly during the lockdown.
We have also reached out with Dry ration and Hygiene kit comprising of Rice, Pulses, Oil, Soyabean, Biscuits, Egg, Puffed rice, Detergent, Shampoo, Soap, Mosquito repellent to more than 50 adolescents during this quarter.
Potential Long-Term Impact: Enable elderly women to overcome feelings and situations of loneliness and isolation. A regular supply of dry rations in the present situation where due to COVID 19 many have lost their livelihoods. The camp has also helped in bringing awareness in their household. Adolescent girls develop self – confidence and self-esteem and are able to make decisions about their future, and the Aikido sessions develop self-protection skill. Women’s solidarity is strengthened, they are getting aware of their legal rights and they are able to demand their rights.
