Dear Friends,
AAI is helping thousands of families left homeless after a devastating 7.8 earthquake in the Mindanao region of the Philippines.
We are pleased to report that among our AAI-sponsored schools, no deaths or injuries occurred. We can credit the dedicated school staff, volunteers, and students who regularly practice earthquake drills.
Asia America Initiative works with communities in remote villages that are difficult to reach. Despite adverse conditions, we continue to assist thousands of families -- Christians, Muslims, and Indigenous tribal peoples -- who suffer in desperate conditions. We have been active in all the provinces across the three major regions of the 7,000-island Philippine archipelago, where hundreds of different cultures thrive, and myriad languages and dialects are spoken.
According to the United Nations and other global agencies, the Philippines is the country most affected by natural disasters in the world. Asia America Initiative and our network of local partner organizations, such as One World Institute, staffed mostly by brave volunteers, provide medicines, shelter materials, clean water, and food support to needy families and individual disaster survivors.
The materials we are preparing for quake victims include blankets, medicines, tents, school supplies, books, and water jugs. In the surrounding affected provinces, such as Sulu, we are providing resources to volunteer parents to rebuild cracked classroom walls and broken schoolhouse roofs.
Thank you for your ongoing contributions. If you would like to continue your support or become a long-term sponsor with a monthly donation, please click the link below. Your support helps families recover from typhoons and natural disasters.
We could not do this without our donors' support. If you would like to add to your individual support or begin a monthly donation of just $10, please click the link below, and GlobalGiving will assist you in this worthwhile endeavor.
