Challenge

Before COVID-19, there was prevalence of hunger, poverty and deprivation in the targeted rural communities. The situation is now worse with the pandemic such that women, children, the elderly, and the economically disadvantaged groups are badly affected due to loss of income or death. The project is critical because it will cushion the impact of economic hardship, hunger, and poverty on 1,200 households in selected rural agrarian communities in Osun State, Nigeria that are impacted by COVID-19.

Solution

Given To Give Inc. will provide palliative (raw food materials) to 1200 families that will alleviate their hunger and poverty. It will also improve the quality of life of the women, children, elderly, and vulnerable groups in the selected rural communities.

Long-Term Impact

Food insecurity, also known as food poverty, is a growing problem in several rural areas in Nigeria. Up to 1200 households from six selected rural communities will benefit from the project. In the long run, this project will prevent the families from falling into hunger trap and will also improve their health and well-being. The project will also improve the children's mental health and reduce drop-out rate among school children in the selected rural communities.
