Living conditions in Kenya were already tough, then COVID-19 hit and things got even worse! Families in desperate need are asking for your help...they are out of food, and many are about to lose their homes and become homeless. Wages have been stopped or severely cut. Many families already living on less than $1 a day lost even that minuscule amount. Your help is needed today to feed families, keep them in their homes and help them survive through this tough period.
COVID-19 closed businesses, closed schools and blocked any opportunity to earn an income to provide food and rent. Many are threatened with eviction from their homes. There are no food banks to distribute food, no schools giving out breakfast or lunch; no government assistance to help. There is no "work from home" for small businesses that sold at the market or from small shops. People who once shared food with elderly neighbors or widows raising orphaned children can no longer help.
Your help to purchase food will feed families until businesses can reopen and people can get back to work. In some cases, it will pay for rent so families aren't put out on the street. (Typical rents are $20-$60 a month.) Providing food to families is the answer to keep people from starving until things return to normal. People want to work, right now they can't work. Until the impacts of COVID-19 subside, you can help a family through these hard times with the basics- food and shelter.
The long-term impact of feeding families while COVID-19 continues to spread is simple...it's keeping food on the table and keeping people alive! It's keeping families in their homes. It's keeping families together and giving children like Elizabeth a future and a hope of a better life.
