The world is facing a very unprecedented problem due to COVID-19. About 9.35 Million people are affected and 136 thousand deaths are reported across India out of which 1700 deaths are reported in Odisha itself where the relief operation is being conducted as on date leaving the people in distress.
Economic recession is in the highest, unemployment increased due to lock down, manufacturing activity is in standstill and the state is facing serious migration crisis. In a quick and consistent response, YCDA undertook relief activities across 2 districts of Boudh and Bolangir.
YCDA with support from GlobalGiving and other mobilizations reached out to over 6500 individuals providing them with emergency food and sanitation supplies. Each kit contained Rice, dal, cooking oil, masala, protein powder, baby food (wherever necessary), sanitary napkins, hand sanitizer, soaps and face masks. The kits would help each family with an average of 4 members sustained for over 2 months. Families of persons with old age and any acute illness or disability were ensured that the supplies reach at their door step.
Apart from this we also conducted several awareness campaigns on COVID protocols in collaboration with the local Govt. and reached over 100000 people in 2 districts. Psychosocial counseling to over 500 children and caregivers and persons with visible psychosocial disruptions was provided across our fields of interventions.
