Health In Harmony is dedicated to reversing global heating through healthcare, livelihood, and conservation programs that protect rainforests. The communities we work with in Indonesia and Madagascar need emergency medical supplies and funding to respond to COVID-19: to prepare front-line staff, facilities, and communities for an increase in cases, and to support national systems strengthening and public health outreach. By saving lives today, we can save rainforests tomorrow!
In Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, the ASRI Medical Center projects that they will need to respond to 4.8K people needing critical medical care as a result of COVID-19 infections, although there are only 70 beds in their region. Former ASRI Executive Director, Dr. Monica Nirmala, is also advising Indonesia's national coronavirus Tsar on medical response and public health outreach. In Madagascar, we are supporting local healthcare outposts through supplies and education.
Our emergency medical response will save lives in low-resource, rainforest, communities today, so that communities can return to protecting and restoring rainforests, tomorrow. In addition to high-quality, affordable healthcare, we provide alternative, sustainable livelihood training, conservation education, and reforestation programs. Humans and nature are intrinsically connected, so when humans are healthy, rainforests are healthy and all who depend on them - including many endangered species.
Our model can be replicated all over the world - wherever natural resources are threatened, we can collaborate with the experts - rainforest communities - to create the change the planet needs. By partnering with communities, we can improve human health and protect the health of the natural environment for generations to come.
