Girls' education is not just about getting girls into school-it's about equipping girls with the life skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to make informed decisions about their lives and future. By delivering access to one-on-one and group psychosocial counselling, life skills development, gender equity and child rights education, and career guidance and support, you'll help 600 vulnerable girls in Naivasha, Kenya, to complete high school and realize their full potential.
Generational poverty in Nakuru means that girls here experience social problems like difficulty accessing education and physical/mental health supports, gender-based violence and abuse, child labour, and early marriages and pregnancies. As COVID compounds these challenges, including the comeback of harmful traditional practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the world quickly becomes a difficult place to navigate-but there is hope for the 600 girls who will benefit from this project.
Your gift directly impacts students by providing long-term, professional psychosocial programming at the all-girls high school constructed by Village Impact. Dedicated Counsellors will provide one-on-one and group services that counter the impacts of trauma, enhance well-being, confidence and self-esteem, respond to needs, and provide healing and comfort. Girls will build skills, develop healthier relationships, experience personal growth, and become resourceful and productive community members.
When girls are educated, they develop the knowledge, confidence and life skills necessary to navigate and adapt to our ever-changing world. They earn higher incomes, become active participants in the decisions that most affect them, and build better futures for themselves and their families. Educating girls also helps break intergenerational cycles of poverty and disadvantage, giving all people-including boys and men-opportunities to fulfill their potential.
