This project will provide a month's worth of essential supplies for 1000 starving daily wage earning families, who have to support two children or more, during this period of lockdown and curfews for the coronavirus pandemic in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka, as a small third world South Asian country, is severely lacking the resources to handle the currently ongoing global coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic. With the numbers of those infected on a swift rise since February 11th, the government imposed an indefinite curfew that bans people from leaving their homes in an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19. This has made the very existence of the families of daily wage earners a huge struggle with starvation.
This project aims to bring a month of relief during this pandemic lockdown period for 1000 families. As a child oriented humanitarian organization, we will be prioritizing families with over two children within the following target groups. Single mothers, Female headed households, Families with differently abled children, Agricultural workers with minimum wage, Construction workers with minimum wage, Fishermen, Transport related daily wage earners, Casual Laborers etc.
This relief project will help tide these 1000 most affected families over during the worst of the lockdown and give them some breathing space to stock up if the lockdown continues.
