Creating a Safe Space for Kids

We began this year with joyful activities for children in our community through the House Purchase for Child Care Center in Cartagena project. Our first sessions focused on teaching values using a values book, helping children learn about respect, kindness, responsibility, and love in a fun and meaningful way. At the end of the activity, each child received a snack, allowing us to provide holistic care that nurtures both their hearts and their well-being.

On this first day, we welcomed a good number of children, and the joy on their faces reminded us why this work matters. Parents shared how grateful they are for these learning spaces and expressed their desire for us to continue teaching their children through the values book. These moments of connection and growth encourage us to keep moving forward.

However, as our program grows, our current facilities have become too limited compared to the number of people we serve with love and commitment. We long to reach many more children in the community, but to do so, we urgently need more space. Your support is crucial for us to purchase our own facilities, so we can remodel and expand them to provide the safe, welcoming environment that children and families deserve.

Thanks to our donors’ generosity, we have been able to carry out these activities and provide snacks so that each child receives integral care. With your continued support, we can reach more children, strengthen families, and create a place where hope, learning, and love can grow.

Little Firefighters

Little Firefighters

At the Restaurando las Familias Foundation, we remain committed to the well-being, education, and integral development of the children in our community. We are pleased to share with you the progress and experiences of our most recent program: “Little Firefighters”, an initiative carried out in partnership with the Cartagena Fire Department.

The main goal of this program is to educate children about accident prevention, basic emergency management, and the importance of solidarity and community service. So far, we have successfully completed two training sessions, with many enthusiastic children participating, learning in a practical and enjoyable way about essential topics for their safety and that of their families.

The sessions have been held at our Foundation’s facilities, where we have witnessed how children enjoy, get motivated, and develop a strong sense of civic responsibility. However, we have faced some logistical challenges, mainly limited space, which has prevented us from carrying out certain interactive exercises and activities that required a larger area.

To ensure comfort and personalized attention, we divided the children into smaller groups, allowing for a better educational experience, although it also limited the number of participants per session. Despite these challenges, the atmosphere has been filled with joy, commitment, and hope.

This experience has reaffirmed an urgent need: to have our own, larger, and better-equipped space, where we can develop all our activities without limitations and provide the comfort, safety, and well-being the children deserve.

That is why the support of our donors is crucial. Every contribution brings us closer to the dream of acquiring and improving our own facility, where we can continue educating children in values, safety, and community leadership. Your donation not only helps us improve our infrastructure, but also directly impacts the lives of dozens of families who trust and benefit from our work.
