Our program guides underrepresented young adults to achieve their financial, educational and career goals through mentoring, networking and professional development. We provide mentoring and networking opportunities. We partner with employers to provide job opportunities. Lastly, we offer financial and career readiness workshops so young adults can build their skills and abilities to become leaders, be more positively engaged with the community, and be better prepared for the real world.
Many young adults are not prepared for the professional world. 1 in 3 young people grow up without ever having a mentor. In addition, women and people of color are underrepresented in important fields and leadership positions. Lastly, employers are not a diverse as they would like to be and have challenges reaching out to diverse communities to diversify their workforce.
conNEXTions helps solves these problem by providing mentoring opportunities with professionals that have expertise in the young adults' career interests. We also provide networking opportunities by teaching young adults how to network and create events for them to practice their skills. We offer financial and career readiness workshops and coaching. Finally, we partner with employers to provide career tours and opportunities for young adults so that they can be connected and have less barriers.
Research demonstrates that mentoring, social capital, and personal and professional development play an important role in contributing to success in school, work and life. For young adults, this leads to positive outcomes such as higher self-efficacy and the ability to secure rewarding careers. In addition, the community will be more connected as a whole. Young adults will be more confident reaching out to employers and employers will gain a more diverse workforce.
