Kicking off digital learning in 2023!

We are thrilled to kick off the year working closely with our partner, Asociacion Bayan, to integrate technology in the rural secondary education program (called SAT rhyming with "cat", for its initials in Spanish).

Building upon initial teacher training and a donation of equipment for this first pilot experience in the last quarter of 2022, SAT classrooms in the department of La Paz have already begun to integrate technology in the classroom to enhance learning. This first pilot phase is reaching 9 schools, and we hope to raise funds to expand to at least two more departments during 2023.

In October and November, the tutors integrated technology in their classrooms using the hardware and the strategies taught in the training. Fabretto’s team provided virtual technical assistance to the tutors and to Bayán’s staff. In addition, a protocol was established for maintenance and storing equipment at the schools.

To date, the reception of the pilot program has been very positive, although some tutors struggle more with digital skills than others and require additional, hands-on training. It was, however, notable that most of the tutors were very interested in the program and less resistant to technology integration than expected - and of course the youth involved in the pilot are thrilled!

We look forward to sharing more about our progress over the next few months, and thank you for your support to empower youth and enhance their learning in rural classrooms in Honduras!
