Through the partnership with Asociacion BAYAN in Honduras, since 2022, Fabretto has worked to strengthen access to digital education in Honduran schools.
Accomplishments have included:
Currently, 41 schools across 6 departments (states) of Honduras are participating in this program! This benefits 2,250 students, with participation from 125 teachers in 2025. The students and teachers are excited and motivated to continue learning using digital tools. All of the tools are available for offline use, since most of these schools have limited access to wifi and even cellular signal.
Over the three years of implementation, we've seen access to technology increase in classroom spaces, with students who'd never used a tablet or computer for learning exploring new resources, guided by their teachers. Teachers are now using lesson planning techniques that integrate digital technology. There is also a greater awareness in the educational community of technology's potential to support learning.
Challenges have also arisen - security, electricity supply, and infrastructure are problems for many rural schools, as well as access to provide ongoing technical support. However, the teachers and students are committed to continuing to find community-driven solutions. This year, each school created a sustainability plan for the technology integration program.
Also new this year, we introduced an initiative called Kolibri Factory. This intensive training event brought together teacher-leaders with exceptional skills to develop new content for the platform. Together, the teachers developed 66 brand new learning resources aligned to their curriculum. These resources are now being used in the 41 schools reached by the program.
We are grateful for your support of this project! Although we are closing out the project posted on GlobalGiving, the impact will continue. Fabretto is committed to continuing to support these schools with digital education in 2026 and beyond. Thank you!
