Term 2 marked a significant milestone in expanding digital learning at Thika School for the Blind. The senior school received 150 Chromebook laptops, with 125 allocated to students and 25 to teachers, alongside 35 desktop computers to support research and digital learning. We thank Google for helping expand access to digital learning for students and teachers.
The new devices are expanding students' access to digital learning, enabling them to engage more actively in research, collaboration, and technology-enabled learning. For teachers, the devices are supporting greater use of technology in classroom instruction and assessments, strengthening digital skills, and improving the accessible learning experience.
Beyond the classroom, students participated in music festivals, games, and sports including the 2026 National Games hosted by Thika School for the Blind. These activities provided valuable opportunities for students to build confidence, showcase their talents, and connect with peers from other schools.
Overall, Term 2 was a productive and impactful period, marked by increased technology integration in the classroom, continued development of digital skills, and strong collaboration among students, teachers, and instructors. The computer labs continue to support learning by providing assistive technology, technical support, digital skills training, and access to educational resources. The addition of 185 computers—150 Chromebooks and 35 desktops—represents an important contribution to accessible education, helping learners with visual impairments to develop digital skills they need to succeed academically and prepare for future opportunities.
