Project Report | Jan 18, 2024
Back To School - First Term 2023

By Linda Wairegi | Multimedia Project Manager

It's been a great holiday break for learners, inABLE staff, employees and friends of inABLE.

We're back to work and happy that all 6 Computer Labs for the Blind located in Thika, Meru, Siaya, and Kisumu have re-opened to educate and inspire young learners who are eager and thirsty for knowledge. Term 1 runs from 8th January 2024 to 5th April 5th, 2024, with a mid-term break from 29th February to 3rd March 2024.

Last year, our partner schools received Google Chromebook laptops to help scale the Computer-Labs-for-the-Blind program, improve their digital learning experience and allow more students to research, learn and grow individually.

We want to celebrate all inABLE computer instructors and interns for their hard work and dedication.

This year, we are looking forward to having an incredible time with the kids and the following activities:

  • Computer assistive training sessions that show kids how to work with computers and best practices
  • The application of ICT in classrooms as young learners shows us their newly acquired digital skills.
  • Mentorship of young learners so that they can be confident, independent and well-rounded.

We want to thank everyone for their continued support as we make a powerful impact on the lives of young learners with visual impairments. We urge you to support inABLE's Computer Labs for the Blind and Visually Impaired project as we aim to reach the $30,000 goal to empower learners with visual impairments through computer-assistive technology.
