Housing Now October 21st National Rally

On Wednesday, October 21, communities across the nation will stand in solidarity for the annual Housing NOW! National Day of Action. We are organizing rallies across the country to confront federal budget cuts, resist policies that penalize people for surviving outdoors, and insist that housing—not incarceration or displacement—is the only moral and effective response to homelessness. From local city halls to Washington, D.C., advocates, faith leaders, providers, and neighbors with lived experience will raise a single, clear demand to lawmakers: protect housing, defend homeless assistance, and guarantee that dignity and care replace fines and handcuffs. NCH expects to have up to 500 people at the main rally and 50 events across the country. The rally is a part of a series of action that will culminate in a National March.

This month as NCH Executive Director I was named Advocate of the Year by the Bazelon Institute. The awards demonstrates the collective work by NCH's Board, Staff, Members and Donors.

On September 28 -30 we will host our National Lived Experience Conference in partnership with Destination Home in San Jose CA. We now have over 500 people experiencing homelessness attending our conference. Most of the attendee's are people with lived experience. This year we will provide over three hundred scholarships.

NCH now has 5 field sites with three more planned for this year. NCH will also be adding an Americorp project in 5 states and the District of Columbia.
