Climate change have a devastating potential on the livelihood, health and well-being of the under-served population In Cameroon, especially farmers that depends on natural resources and agriculture for their livelihood. Cameroon has recently experienced decline in agriculture productivity, increased poor health outcome linked to flood, drought, hurricane, heat and rising sea levels which are all outcomes of climate change. Over 3million people have been affected by climate change in the Country.
Integrated Agricultural Association (IAA) has taken a bold action to protect and restore ecosystems in the Northwest and West Regions of Cameroon by reducing deforestation and mangrove loss through tree planting and organizing climate meetings on dangers of deforestation, importance of regenerative agriculture and ecosystems conservation in Cameroon. IAA aimed at women and children of all ages to accelerate forest conservation efforts, by planting trees in water catchments, Oku forest and other nature reserve areas in the region like Mount Bamboutus which produces water for hidroelectricity power in Cameroon.
Integrated Agricultural Association (IAA) has developed a conservation action plan to restore mangroves and conserve ecosystem in these regions, that lead to sustainable management of forest resources, land and indigenous wisdom on the protection of the natural environment. IAA has nursed 5000 trees in Kumbo which will be planted by farmers themselves in their farming plots from May 2024.
As a generous IAA's supporter, we know you’re passionate about creating change by unleashing the power of giving and support to enable grassroots organizations, transform the food system and build food security and economic development in their communities.
