This is a nature educational outreach program to support environmental literacy and green practices, empowering kids 10-25 in communities and urban and rural schools without prior foundation sustainability education, to become future environmental leaders. It aims to work with 5000 kids, educating them on climate issues, ecosystem restoration and protection, conservation, biodiversity and sustainability in Cameroon.
There are currently more than 2000,000 children who have witnessed first-hand climate change related events in Cameroon, including landslides, flooding and droughts. These children are at risk of starvation, diseases and mental health disorders, like stress, anxiety and depression as they are not guaranteed future stability. Despite being the most people who suffer from this climate change, they are not educated and supported to lead on this issue. This project will change that.
This project will provide consistent nature forward education to kids, 10-25 in primary schools and communities in topics including, regenerative gardening, biodiversity and climate action like tree planting, environmental clean up, waste recycling in the classroom and pollution. It will also organize Eco-clubs in schools to foster peer support, creating an opportunity that empower the next generation of environmental leaders in Cameroon.
This project will educate 1000 children allowing them to put these teachings into practice in hands-on- initiatives including planting school gardens and fruit trees, restoring ecosystem and waste recycling which all fight climate change and promote the physical and mental well-being of children. Eco-clubs will continue to support their peers on environmental sustainability and will influence their parents and community members on climate issues and sustainable development.
