TCOLF WASH Program Reports
Why It Matters — Safe Water Is Where Health Begins
Access to safe water is essential for good health, proper hygiene, and the well-being of families in Kibera. Women and children, who most often carry the responsibility of collecting water for their households, feel that need most of all.
The Centre of Love Foundation (TCOLF) continues to run its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program to improve access to clean and safe water for community members. Because of your generous support, we have been able to strengthen the program, upgrade our equipment, and expand the ways we serve the families around us.
What Your Gift Made Possible — WASH Program Improvements
1. Water Bottle Washing Machine
Cleaning refillable bottles used to take considerable manual effort and time. The new machine washes bottles efficiently and consistently before they are refilled, raising our hygiene standards.
2. Packaging Table
A clean, stable, dedicated space where bottles are arranged, filled, sealed, and prepared for distribution. The process is faster, more organized, and more hygienic.
3. Lighting Insect Arrester
Installed to help maintain a hygienic environment around the water processing area, protecting the water from contamination.
4. A Better Working Environment
Together, these upgrades have improved the way water is processed, cleaned, packaged, and stored, while giving our team a more organized place to work.
5. A Complete Overhaul of the Purification System
Our water purification machine is the heart of the WASH program. Thanks to your support, it underwent a complete overhaul to improve its performance and the quality of the water it produces.
The result is better water quality, improved taste, and higher hygiene standards. The overhaul also restored the machine's efficiency so it can continue providing clean and safe water to the community for years to come.
As part of the overhaul:
Providing Water to the Community
Alongside clean purified drinking water, TCOLF continues to provide clean water for everyday household use to women and other community members.
Neighbors come to the Centre with their own containers and fill them with the water their families need for cooking, cleaning, and bathing. This reliable source helps households in Kibera meet their daily water needs.
El Niño and Heavy-Rain Preparedness
With heavy rains and possible flooding expected, TCOLF has bottled and stored clean drinking water at the Centre. These supplies will be available to community members who struggle to access safe water during heavy rainfall or flooding, reducing the risk of shortages and protecting vulnerable families during emergencies.
Thank You — You Made This Possible
The generous support of our donors has made a meaningful difference in strengthening TCOLF's WASH program and improving access to clean and safe water for our community.
Through this funding, we acquired important equipment, improved our water processing and packaging, serviced the purification machine, and prepared for possible water shortages during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding.
We are deeply grateful to our donors and supporters. Without your generosity, it would have been difficult for TCOLF to make these important improvements and continue serving the community in this way. We truly appreciate your continued partnership and commitment to the well-being of our community.
Looking Ahead
TCOLF looks forward to:
Thank you for believing in our work, supporting our WASH program, and helping us make a lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve.
