Access to clean and safe water remains a priority for the Centre of Love Foundation. Bringing clean and safe water closer to places of inadequacy responds to the Sustainable development goal 6 that emphasizes the importance of achieving clean water and sanitation for all. The Centre of Love Foundation has promoted access to clean and safe water in the following ways:
Supply of water at the Centre of Love Foundation premises:
1000+ families, 2 schools and a church living around the Centre of Love Foundation have had access to clean water. The centre has supplied filtered water which is safe for consumption and other household chores. The Centre has also promoted sanitation by proving access to clean toilets which are open to the public. This has promoted improved hygiene for communities around.
Olympic Primary & Secondary School WASH project
Serving a population of 5000+, Olympic Primary & Secondary school in Kibera, Nairobi, has a high-water demand and limited resources to match. Having its main source of water from a borehole, the school has been consuming untreated water that has been posing health challenges such as cholera to the school going children.
The Centre of Love Foundation started the Olympic WASH project to ensure that school going children consume have access to drinking water that is safe for consumption. This is being achieved bythe installation of a reverse osmosis water filtration machine that treats the borehole water and redistributes purified water back to various drinking points. The project commenced in February 2025 and it is in its final stage of completion. 2 water storage tanks (10,000 litres each) have been set up to ensure enough supply and storage of the drinking water. The project will also facilitate the formation of a water club. The club will be actively involved in sensitization of uptake of clean water, hygiene and sanitation practices. This ensures that the school going children will be water champions who promote water and sanitation practices in their school as well as in the communities they come from. This project will have the immediate benefit of making available clean and safe water and the reduction of water borne disease among school going children.
