First quarterly update for GlobalGiving supporters:
Thank you for supporting Resonance through GlobalGiving. This is our first quarterly update, and we are grateful to the first donors helping us build this new source of support — including our first monthly donor.
Over the last quarter, Resonance has continued to provide a platform for independent, artist-led and community-led radio. Alongside early support through GlobalGiving, our wider annual fundraiser raised £30,000, helping us keep our studios active, support volunteers, and sustain free and low-cost access to broadcasting.
This quarter we have brought a new Development Coordinator into the organisation, trained and onboarded 18 new volunteer engineers, and launched a new introductory session scheme for people interested in getting involved. Your support has enabled us to expand our studio including Studio 2, and a new control room dedicated to our engineers and to support different audio production work streams. We have also broadcast over 1,100 original art radio programmes, including around 250 live broadcasts, and presented special broadcasts linked to REVEIL / International Dawn Chorus Day, Liverpool Biennial / Roy Claire Potter, and Colour Out of Space.
One new volunteer engineer described the induction as a welcoming, hands-on route into the station:
“I had a great induction at Resonance FM, where Milo and James taught us how to work the studio desk and use the Airtime software. I especially enjoyed getting hands-on practice in the studio, and the tutors made us feel as if we were already part of the engineering team. Since then, I have continued volunteering at Resonance, which has given me the opportunity to keep developing my radio broadcasting skills.”
This is exactly what Resonance exists to do: give people the skills, space and confidence to participate in cultural life, while keeping independent community radio open to artists, volunteers and underrepresented voices. In the next quarter, we will continue strengthening our volunteer training, supporting new and existing broadcasters, and developing our fundraising and impact reporting through the new Development Coordinator role.
Thank you for being part of this work at an early stage on GlobalGiving. Every donation helps keep Resonance open as a space for creative risk, public expression and cultural participation.
