Resonance is an independent, non-profit radio platform created by and for artists, musicians, and independent voices. For over 20 years, we have provided a space where people can broadcast freely - without advertising, commercial pressure, or editorial gatekeeping. Our stations are made by volunteers and shared with listeners around the world. Thousands of artist-led programmes are broadcast each year, supporting creative risk-taking, cultural exchange, and freedom of expression through sound.
Independent, community-led media is disappearing. Rising costs and the dominance of commercial platforms mean fewer spaces where artists and communities can access broadcasting skills, experiment creatively, and speak freely in the public sphere. As a result, underrepresented voices are excluded from cultural production, emerging artists lack pathways into media, and communities lose platforms for expression, connection, and local storytelling. Community media requires sustained support.
This project keeps independent community radio active by funding training, production, and broadcast of community-led and experimental programming. Donor support provides free and low-cost access to studios, skills training, and editorial support, enabling artists and volunteers to create and share original work. Through regular broadcasting and online distribution, underrepresented voices reach local and international audiences, sustaining cultural diversity and freedom of expression.
By sustaining independent community radio, this project builds long-term access to media skills, creative opportunities, and platforms for expression. Volunteers and artists develop confidence, experience, and pathways into further creative and civic participation. Over time, continued broadcasting strengthens cultural diversity, preserves independent perspectives, and ensures community voices remain present in public life. The project contributes to a more inclusive global media landscape.
