Community Beekeeping Progress report:
MaSe Foundation is pleased to share that the community-based beekeeping project is picking up very well. The community has taken the initiative to organise themselves and begin the project using traditional beekeeping methods while they work towards introducing more modern techniques.
As a first step, community members have mobilised themselves to start making their own local beehives using materials that are readily available in the community, including wood, clay and cow dung. This is encouraging and demonstrates the community’s commitment to the project and their willingness to take ownership of the initiative from the very beginning.
Although the community is looking forward to progressing to modern beekeeping methods and technologies, they do not want to wait to get started. By making traditional hives themselves, they are already building practical knowledge and experience while laying the foundation for the next stage of the project.
The long-term goal remains to equip community groups with modern beekeeping skills, improved hives and the knowledge needed to produce and market honey and other hive products. This will provide families with an additional and sustainable source of income, helping them to become more financially independent and better able to meet essential household and school-related expenses.
We are encouraged by the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the community so far. With your continued support, we hope to build on this strong beginning and help the community transition from traditional to modern beekeeping, creating a sustainable source of income for families for years to come.
Thank you for supporting this initiative and for investing in the long-term resilience and economic independence of the families we serve.
