Thanks to the generous support of all our donors during the GlobalGiving Open Challenge, we have secured a long term spot on GlobalGiving.org and won an additional award of US1.000! Raising the amount of US10.200 has secured Fundown Caribe the funding of almost the whole project and the COLOMBIAN DONW SYNDROME AWARENESS CAMPAIGN will be launched in August. We plan to raise the remaining US500 before this date!
Thanks to your generous financial support, all phases of our campaign will be executed simultaneously!
In August we´ll open our campaign with a press conference, followed by an advertising billboard and the internal taxi campaign that will continue during a month. The school information program for teachers and students will run from August until November in 40 public and private schools that already have been selected and in September we´ll have an activity for 100 pediatricians to deliver information on how to break the news and on the medical protocol that has to be followed in newborns and children with Down Syndrome. From August to November we´ll also do cultural activities in shopping malls to raise awareness.
During the weeks following the end of the Open Challenge, we have been preparing the whole image of the campaign which will be based on highlighting the skills of each person which is what makes us different from each other. Two weeks ago our advertising agency made the photographic casting to choose our campaign models among our affiliates. 24 young and adults with Down Syndrome were very excited to participate in this experience.
We are so excited to move forward on this amazing first time opportunity to try to educate people about tolerating differences and the importance of inclusion for all, with the hope to make a lasting difference in the lives of the persons with Down Syndrome and their families through acceptation and inclusion in our society.
