Thanks to your generous support, local organizations are continuing to show up for their communities, delivering critical aid and helping families transition from immediate response to recovery in Colombia.

GlobalGiving’s latest round of funding from the Colombia Earthquake Relief Fund has already begun bolstering the responses of four additional nonprofit partners leading recovery in their communities.

Here is a short description of the work your donation is already supporting:

  • Fundacion Patronato Maria Auxiliadora is distributing essential medication, antibiotics, and first aid supplies to children impacted by the earthquake across the Chocó and Valle del Cauca regions.
  • Manglar Innato is providing food, clean water, solar lighting, hygiene kits, tarps, temporary shelter, and bedding to remote and hard to reach communities in the Chocó region impacted by the earthquake. In the long term, Manglar Innato will fund sustainable home repairs and the reconstruction of school and healthcare infrastructure in isolated and remote communities and is prioritizing support to Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities in the region that are facing heightened barriers to recovery.
  • MAKAIA aims to support 50 earthquake-affected nonprofits with funding for equipment, connectivity, data, and software to restore operations. The organization also plans to provide training and technical assistance in digital working tools, continuity, cybersecurity, and data protection to staff – allowing community-led response throughout the region to get back on its feet and get to work..
  • Minga House Foundation  works with students across the region in Caldas and aims to rebuild one of its schools that was rendered inoperable by the earthquake. The organization is also enrolling50 students who have experienced interruptions in their education in its bilingual education programs.

Your generosity is helping communities across Colombia take important steps toward recovery. By supporting local organizations, you are helping ensure that critical resources reach people who need them most—both now and as communities begin the long process of rebuilding.

Thank you for standing with our partners and the communities they serve during this difficult time. Your continued support is making a meaningful difference.

With gratitude,

Alli + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
