Starting 2021, Strong and with the Biggest of dreams!

No matter what, together we can celebrate!
No matter what, together we can celebrate!

Dear Donors,

As we say goodbye to 2020, better late than never, we would like to express our gratitude to each and everyone of you!

We are delighted to start a new year full of positive energy ready to meet goals and improve every day the quality of services we provide to the 621 children, who develop their potentials under our protection. 2020 taught us to overcome challenges that seemed impossible and awarded us with the solidarity of many volunteers and company such as UPS, Cargill Inc., Mercado Libre, Thermos, Quala, Mitsui, Vass, National Instruments, Set-Icap, Asesoftware, Sutherland, La Bonne Cuisine, Brownies Paraiso who with their contributions and accompaniment made it possible for our children to have a Merry Christmas full of gifts and celebrations! With this being said, we'd also like to take a moment and recognize every single donor, who during the most difficult time, were willing to help our Colombian children, no matter the amount. In the darkest of days, we are happy to see the brightest light which is our donor community!

This year, our Directorate-General 2021's focus is to strengthen the pedagogical area, get the whole staff and children, to take over the use of technologies to meet the virtual education goals, that are here to stay. This crisis situation also requires us to rethink and innovate the fundraising strategy, taking advantage of the opportunities provided by virtuality in order to thus, to expand our community of donors and collaborators.

Here are some important projects for 2021:

  • Advancing our virtual learning experience for our children: Thanks to the UPS Foundation we are able to invest 10,000 USD into better connectivity for our programs, as in 2021 virtual education will continue to be the primary form of learning for our young and bright children. These funds will complement those raised in 2020's July Bonus Day, thanks to your support!
  • Our CEPSA Foundation Social Development Project: With the project "Closing the Digital Gap for Virtual Education of Children, and Adolescents at Risk", we fulfill our dream of winning the Special Employee Award awarded by the Cepsa Foundation as part of its annual Award for Social Value Awards, in support of projects that contribute to the development of the least-favoured communities in their environment. A Learning Community Model will be implemented to optimize the Foundation's formative environment.
  • Greater Giving Summit: On Feburary 23rd, we have been invited to participate in the "Greater Giving Summit", a virtual event organized by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation philanthropic team, with the assistance of more than 200 leaders from around the world, discussing how to reinvent charitable  donations in the post-COVID 19 era. This discussion will have as central themes "React, Transform, Replicate".
  • Some dreams come true: We are proud to highlight some of our children's achievements of the Nuevo Amanecer and St. Patrick in-house programs: Luis, entered the Alianza FC Football School. Leidy, was accepted into the Delta Force Aviation School in the Cabin Crew Program, Cristian graduated as Business Administrator at the Grancolombiano Polytechnic University, José started his studies in Environmental Engineering. Isn't this fantastic?

Papa Jaime and our Board Members wish you all the best for 2021, greatly appreciate your commitment, and hope that this year you continue to carry our children and young adolescents in your heart.

With love,

Angelica Vega
