Dear Partner,
We are excited to share an update on the Climate-Smart Women: Building Green Skills for a Cleaner Sierra Leone project. While the project is still awaiting its first round of donations, the Youth Partnership for Peace and Development (YPPD) team remains deeply optimistic and fully prepared to begin implementation as soon as funding is secured.
Across our target communities, interest in the initiative continues to grow. Young women and community leaders have expressed strong enthusiasm for opportunities that combine environmental protection with inclusive financial empowerment. The project aims to train women to produce energy-efficient briquettes and environmentally friendly cooking alternatives, creating sustainable income while reducing dependence on charcoal and protecting local forests.
Our team has already begun early engagement with community groups and potential participants to ensure readiness for a smooth launch. These conversations have reinforced how urgently women are seeking practical skills that can improve household incomes while contributing to climate action.
As one prospective participant, Aminata, shared during a recent community discussion, “We are ready to learn something that helps us earn and also protect our environment. This project gives us hope that women can lead change in our communities.”
YPPD believes this initiative represents more than a training program—it is an investment in women’s leadership, environmental stewardship, and resilient local economies. With donor support, we look forward to reaching more women and girls with skills that promote independence, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods.
We remain hopeful and committed, and we look forward to sharing the moment when this project officially begins. Every contribution will help turn anticipation into action and expand opportunities for women who are ready to lead Sierra Leone’s green future.
