The purpose of this project is to provide agricultural technical training, sustainable farming, flood response training, flood warning mechanism, and plantation to help train 1000 individuals in Feroza, Rahim Yar Khan. Rahim Yar Khan is a district in southern Punjab where the impacts of climate change are substantially felt. As a consequence of the floods, the increased occurrence of droughts, significant issues of livelihood and food security are prominent. This project will try to solve them.
Feroza is a Union Council in Rahim Yar Khan. With the increasing impact of floods in Pakistan since 2012, with the increasing impact of climate change that has caused a substantial increase in drought, water shortage, food insecurity, and increasing risk of sustainable livelihood, Rahim Yar Khan has been substantially impacted by these changes and is among the worst affected districts in Punjab. The people have to rely on urban centers for their livelihood which results in economic burden.
This project ensures self-sufficiency in one union council, Feroza. This will be done through the following steps; Agricultural technical trainings with a focus on AI and modern, yet cost effective and easily retrievable technology which helps in maintaining sustainable farming in the area. Flood Response System implementation through flood response training, establishment of flood response system and chain of command for primary respondents. Plantation of plants suitable to area environment.
At least 50 farms made sustainable through the intervention of modern technologies At least 50 productive farms having sustainable practices and effective climate change adaptations 50 key stakeholders with significant roles to ensure maintenance of flood response 1000 primary responders 5 flood warning systems At least 200 plants suriving past the first year and maintained for long term sustainable farming. These in the long term will ensure that the people of Feroza are prepared for disasters
