Millions of Ukrainians are in the cross hairs of the world's most devastating weapons. In Ukraine, thousands of cluster bombs, artillery shells, and rockets litter the streets that can detonate at any moment. The HALO Trust has been operating in Ukraine since 2016. We have over 1,200 staff on the ground in Ukraine working to protect civilians from cluster bombs, landmines, and other deadly explosives, but we need your help.
There is an urgent humanitarian need in Ukraine. As Ukrainian cities come under devastating attack, the number of deadly explosives in the streets, the roofs of homes, and even in gardens is growing rapidly. Over 3.7 million Ukrainians have been displaced from their homes since the start of the invasion.
The HALO Trust has over 1,200 staff on the ground who work to protect communities from cluster bombs, landmines, and other deadly explosives. We do this by locating and destroying the unexploded ordnance from the fighting. We are also running risk education sessions, educating and reaching over 34 million Ukrainians about what to do if they encounter an explosive. Our work keeps families safe and makes land safe from landmines so that farmers can cultivate their fields again.
The dangers of the explosives used in the current fighting will linger long after the smoke clears. HALO is doing everything in our power to help families in their greatest time of need. At the same time, we are developing new technologies such as tractors, rotary mine combs, computer aided design and 3D printing, drones, and robocuts to improve mine clearance. We have the local knowledge and expertise to meet this emergency, but we need your help.
