AWARD Pakistan has taken the initiative to install three RO water treatment plants to provide clean drinking water in the three marginalized villages of Punjab with the support of the local community. AWARD likes to thank its donors, as it has received great support through the previous quarters.
According to the surveys, 75–80% of the population in the surrounding villages relies on underground saline water, which is becoming the cause of waterborne diseases. The presence of arsenic in the underground and canal water is another big reason to worry. In 2025, Pakistan is expected to be among the list of water-scarce countries, as it will run out of clean drinking water in many areas. The project has raised USD 5222 so far. Initially, AWARD required an amount of 7,000 USD (46% rise in inflation) to start installing its water reverse osmosis filter plant in one rural area of District Faisalabad.
Meanwhile, AWARD has placed handpumps in various parts of the country to provide clean drinking water to the communities, do not have access to the water. The communities in these related areas are very happy and are thankful to AWARD and GlobalGiving.
For the installation of RO plants, AWARD will take the community on board to protect and maintain the RO plant. Apart from the GlobalGiving Donations, AWARD is also looking for other ways to raise funds and is also trying to advocate to the local government authorities about the issue. Once the target is achieved, the staff will inform the community about the intervention and the activities associated with it and will start initiating the project.
APPEAL: We would like to request all our donors and supporters to keep supporting us for this cause to provide children and women with access to safe drinking water in the rural areas of Punjab, Pakistan.
